Annie’s Cardmaker Kit of the Month Club – July 2021 – Hello Sunshine

I had an order for a Get Well card for an elderly lady that fell and broke her hip. Also wanted to have some on hand.
My husband found this Card Kit of the Month and bought it for me for Mother’s Day. So far the 3 months I have had it I like it! They send instructions to make cards with the supplies but I don’t normally make their cards….I use the supplies to make my own. I used the left side of this scrapbook sketch as my inspiration. I saw a tall skinny card on the left side of the sketch. I ended up making a 3 3/4 x 7 1/4 card. Sketch used: https://www.scrapbook.com/gallery/image/sketch/6722927.html

Supplies:
Cardstock: American Crafts (Sky), Bazzill (Romance, Ivy)
Patterned Paper and die cuts: Annie’s Cardmaker Kit of the Month Club – Hello Sunshine visit: https://www.annieskitclubs.com/products/cardmaker-kit
Accents/Tools: Cuttlebug Embossing Folder (Swiss dots)

So this is another card I made with the Annie’s Cardmaker Kit of the Month Club – July 2021 supplies. I was inspired by last months sketch #2 of the August Card Sketch Challenge. The original sketch is a MOJO Monday Sketch #504. I turned one into a sympathy card and the other is going to a lady that lost her husband in late July to let her know I’m thinking and praying for her. So I will be linking it to the September Happy Mail Challenge. **I challenge everyone to mail out one “happy mail” card this month just to let someone know you are thinking of them!**

Law Enforcement Feel Better card

police-get-well

A friend at work saw an article on Cards for Cops in November about a Rock Hill P.D. officer, Matt Crosby, that was shot in 2010 while investigating a domestic disturbance. He was paralyzed and is wheelchair bound. He had developed bed sores recently that required him to be bedridden for several months. He was needing encouragement and support as he was going through a rough time. She knew I made cards and thought I might want to make him one. He had been on my list but I hadn’t got to it. Well this past week Cards for Cops put a post that Matt Crosby was taken back to the hospital and could use some encouragement cards. So I made a card that night and took it into work so my co-workers could sign it with me if they wanted to.

I saw this stamp on the internet and thought it was perfect. It is from Papertrey Ink and is called Inside & Out Well Wishes Stamp Set. Well I needed to make the card quick and the saying in the stamp said surgery so I changed it to hospital and printed it on my computer. I like all the stamps in the set and even though I’m not a stamper I think I can handle stamping these sentiments so I bought the set!! Late Merry Christmas to me!

I used sketch #1 from the Jan Card Sketch Challenge on Scrapbook.com as my inspiration (original sketch is Atlantic Hearts Sketch #192).

If you are interested here is the address to send him cards:

Matt Crosby

C/O Rock Hill Police Department

320 W. Thorton Ave

Rock Hill MO 63119

Also in St. Louis MO and surrounding areas they are doing a Dine Out for Crosby on Jan 12th to try to raise money to build him a wheelchair accessible home. If you can’t go but want to help towards the cause there is an address to send donations to in the article or just send it to Matt at the above address. Read about it here:

Inside: It’s time to rest and take it easy.

This is for the owner of From the Heart Stamps. On Aug 11th we were notified by her team that Faith (owner) was in the hospital and to pray for her if we could. Aug 13th her dad updated us to let us know they found a brain tumor just bigger than a golf ball size and they were going to operate. She is now at home recovering from the surgery and starting treatments for cancer. This woman is amazing and even though I have never met her she has touched my life with her sweet spirit, kind heart and love for God. Her dad was so kind to give us an address we could send happy mail of encouragement to. So I went looking through her images that I own (because her store is temporarily on hold) and came across this one. She does not sell pre-colored digis but she had a special one time so I got the pre-colored one of this!! When I saw it I came up with the sentiment. I also used a sketch from their challenge blog – I {heart} sketches #69. I was having a hard time trying to find a ribbon to go across like what was in the sketch. So I pulled out my box of odds and ends ribbons and old old fibers (remember those!!). I found this perfect colored fiber trim that was just perfect…I love those happy finds!!

CHALLENGES:

Wonder Woman Bravery

Wonder Woman Hero

Inside: You deflected that illness like Wonder Woman stopped bullets! (My friend and I came up with the saying….I have the bestest friend!)

One of our co-workers daughter fought an unknown illness recently which was during her senior year of high school. Through all the test and surgeries they didn’t know if it was cancer or not. They just found out last month that it is NOT cancer!! So we wanted her to know how tough she was through this all and how proud we were of her bravery. The family loves comic books so we thought Wonder Woman was appropriate for the occasion!

CHALLENGES:
1) July Inspirational Card Challenge – theme – vintage/retro. This is a pretty retro wonder woman!!
2) Cardmakers Card Challenge – sketch #8 – I decided to make mine square instead of rectangle. Then I moved the circle from the right to the left and made it a rectangle. And instead of flags on the bottom I did another rectangle.
the original sketch is from Always Playing with Paper found here: http://alwaysplayingwithpaper.blogspot.com/2014/04/the-challenge-4-million-one.html

SUPPLIES:
Stickers: Creative Imaginations (Wonder Woman)
Accents/Tools: The Paper Studio Embossing Folder (stars), EK Success 1/16 pop up dots

Dale the Whale!

Oh my goodness Deedee is the coolest person to be a guest designer for!! She made this stamp just because I requested it!!

DADaleTheWhalePROMO

A friend of mine, Dale, just had open heart surgery a couple weeks ago. His sister, Beverly, is also a friend of mine. A couple years ago she told me what the “sisters” nickname was for Dale when he was little…Dale the Pink Whale with a Purple Tail!! So I thought that would make a cute Get Well card for him. I asked Deedee if she had a whale in her stash and she said she didn’t but drew this up in no time! It was perfect…she even made a pink with purple tail version!! This is the card I made for the “sisters” to give to Dale.

Family who Spouts

Inside: …But not everyone has a Dale the Pink Whale with a Purple Tail! Glad you’re back to spouting off and feeling better.

Dale is ornery and that is probably why he was out of the hospital in less than a week! So this quote that my friend, Stephanie, and I came up with is perfect. The sisters loved it and Dale thought it was pretty cool that it was made just for him. And it was funny because after open heart surgery he has a purple tail from all the bruising!

I let the circles in the patterned paper act as the water so I could keep the card simple to keep the focus on the whale.  I used Sketch Saturday Sketch #326 as my inspiration.

Then to show how fun this digital stamp is I made a generic Get Whale …I mean Get Well card!

Get Whale Soon

Both the cards turned out to be CAS cards which is funny because I usually don’t do that style very well. But I like how these turned out! I used Sketch Saturday Sketch #287 as my inspiration.

Cards for friends

One of the couples in them marriage group is going to move so the wife can go to Christian college for a year and then one of the ladies is having a hysterectomy on Tuesday so we wanted to make them cards.

We weren’t sure what to do with the hysterectomy card but she is a HUGE Dr. Who fan so in joking around my husband and I mixed Dr. Who and Dr. Seuss together and came up with this card. My husband drew/designed everything so all I did was cut it out and glue it onto a card base.

Healing Thoughts

Inside: Healing thoughts and prayers are being sent your way.

I have 2 sisters that come to my craft class at the retirement home. Both of the ladies are in their 90’s (probably average age for the class!) but they show up every month they can. This month one of them couldn’t come to class because she fell and broke her hip so I made this card for her. Wanted her to know that she was missed and we are praying for her.

I used the March Stamp of the Month at {From the heart stamps} called Hamlet PigWit Think Spring! This card is a hybrid card…half computer colored and half with Tombow markers.

I used Try Stampin’ on Tuesday Sketch #108 as my inspiration. I turned the sketch sideways and put the sentiment directly on the background.  I love how it turned out. This card is for some friends of ours that had to say goodbye to their longtime companion a week ago.

And if you want to see it used in a funny way come back on Sunday for our blog hop! I used this stamp so you will have a chance to win it just for leaving me a comment during the blog hop! Plus, I really like my card I did for Sunday so I would love for you to come back and see it!

CHALLENGES:

1) PanPastel Challenge #10 – Girly Theme. They probably wanted something happy but this card was made girly to represent the girl doggie they lost this past week.

2) March Card Challenge @ scrapbook.com – Product Category – Lace. I made mine with a punch and paper!

Okay enough begging for you to come back on SUNDAY!! Now here is the second card I made with a new digital stamp called Bandaids.  I used Freshly Made Sketches #76 as inspiration. I also used 3 Bandaids which fit the challenge at Sentimental Sundays!
