Card from Santa

A lady contacted me and stated she was going to buy her kids seasons passes to Wonders of Wildlife (Bass Pro) but didn’t have any cool way to present it to the kids. She said she was disappointed that Bass Pro didn’t have any cards to do this. So she requested one from me! She wanted it to be from Santa to the kids. I came up with the ideal of Santa checking his list and finding out the family was nice so he would give them a season pass. So I sent the ideal to my girlfriend who is amazing with coming up with sentiments.

On the inside I printed off a photo of W.O.W. and made it a pocket so the season pass would go on a tag that could be pulled out.

So I was telling my massage therapist about this card and he said oh make me one I want to take it my friend that works at Bass Pro. So who know maybe Bass Pro will “copy” my ideal!

While I was looking for images on the internet I came across this digital stamp/svg file at Scarlett Rose Designs and thought it would be perfect for the envelope to put the card in. I printed their names on the front.

Gift Cards and Money Holders

In October I made a gift card holder so when I sold my cards at our work bazaar I placed them out and let people know I could make different ones since I ran out of time to have several designs displayed. I got orders….so I had to make up more!! I also had a lady ask if I could do money cards so I told her yes, so I had to make those up too. Now money cards were a little tricky finding a size that looked right for money and then finding envelopes. I got my inspiration from this blog but she used Stampin’ Up envelopes that I believe are discontinued as I couldn’t find them in a current catalog.  I figured out what size I needed it to be around and after searching the internet I found 3 7/8 x 7 1/2 envelopes at so the finished card is 3 1/2 x 7 1/4.

I started with the gift cards holders since I already had one made for the order (the deer I made in October). She also wanted the cat image I made a card with and then an ice skater. I was excited about the ice skater as I bought this image, Bella Ice Skate, by Kristi Dailey several years ago and have never had the time to use it. She said the girls hair was between a blond and light brown so I did both and she chose the blond! The original gift card holder ideal I got my inspiration from was at Dawn’s Stamping Thoughts.

The lady who wanted the money orders wasn’t exactly sure what images she wanted so I made up an ice skater and the reindeer and sent her photos.

I used I {heart} Sketches #101 as my inspiration.

Here is what the inside looks like:

I also made a regular card this size to see what they would look like. *Sorry the lighting is not that great. I got a new camera and still trying to figure out how to use it!

She really liked the reindeer since her children were 17-21 yoa. So then I sent her other images for her to pick from and this is what she chose.

Gift Card Holder

Knowing I would need some gift card holders this season I made the technique challenge on the Oct Card Challenge @ just that!! Two ladies have made cool gift card holders and I lifted Cpowife as she made one similar to this. I hope to make Karen’s version today or tomorrow if all goes as planned. Cpowife got the ideal from Dawn’s Stamping Thoughts. But just as Cpowife did, I also changed the dimensions. I didn’t even watch the video so I don’t know if I did it right or not! But it’s made and I like it! I made these with a masculine theme in mind because I will need one for my Father-in-law and I think he will like this!

All My Heart

I’m the craft lady at a local retirement home and I do one craft a month with them. I usually do some sort of door/window hanger because they like decorating their doors for each holiday/season. So yesterday this is what we made and now they have a door hanger for the month of February.

Cat with hearts Elephant with hearts Seal with hearts Dog with hearts

The dogs and seals were the most popular! Everyone seemed to enjoy making them so that was good.

This would be cute to fill with Valentine goodies of all sorts (socks, pencils, candy, toys, etc) and hang on your kids bedroom door! Wouldn’t that be a nice surprise to wake up to or come home from school and have waiting for you!

To make the box I followed an old tutorial I did at Clearly iStamp (I just left the lid off of it and hung it from ribbon instead)….go HERE! It is super easy with a few score lines and cuts and you can make an easy box.

1) Pile it on Challenge #4 – Animals

2) Simply Create Too Challenge #53 – Valentine Day or use hearts. I did both!

A Handsome Greeting Card Organizer!

Thanks to For Fun Challenges I finally got the Masculine Greeting Card Organizer done for my Father In-law….it has only taken me 5 years but it’s done!

My Mother in-law and Sister in-law love having my cards on hand to give out to people. So I decided one Christmas to make them pretty tins to be able to keep the cards in. Then a couple times a year I would refill their stash. When my mother in-law passed away in 2006 my sister in-law took the cards and added them to her collection but didn’t need the tin. So I think it got thrown away or given away (can’t remember). At the time we didn’t really think my father in-law would have use for it since he doesn’t send out a lot of cards. Well, we were wrong. We got a call one day asking where the card box went so we told him and he said he was looking for it so he could send a card out. So I told him I would make a “manly” box for him to keep his cards in. I have given him cards to use but just haven’t got around to making the tin.

I realized I didn’t have any more tins that opened from the top and was the right size so last month a friend of mine gave me an extra one she had. Then Helen at For Fun Challenges decided to REALLY challenge us with a ANYTHING BUT A CARD CHALLENGE. I decided this was the perfect “kick in the pants” I needed to get it done. I had some cool looking manly paper (same paper I did the fishing card out of last month) and paired it with the Time to Fish Digital Image from Clear Dollar Stamps.  My husband helped me by telling me it needed the fishing pole and fish on there with the basket. I came up with the metal stringer and brads…which I think turned out cute! I actually think the WHOLE thing turned out pretty awesome! On the inside lid I placed instructions on mailing bulky cards….they cost more and you have to put “hand stamp only” on the envelope and hand the envelope to the mail clerk. Then I added the light tan piece to make a pocket to put some of the 65 cent extra posting stamps in there for him. That way he can keep them in there since they are for the cards.

I hope the challenge will inspire you to do something you have been wanting to do but haven’t had time! Put down the card making supplies and do something different!!
