4th of July Cards

I’m so far behind in posting cards. I took my annual vacation to the scrap retreat a couple weeks ago and I just can’t seem to get caught up.

These 2 cards were made for a guy at work. Mary Ellen at Dearie Dolls made a basset hound holding a flower in May. So I asked her if it could be switched out to hold a flag and she did it! So I made cards for the guy at work to give to his mom and aunt. Then I made extras and mailed it to my family. My husband colored the image in photoshop. He is so amazing and I’m so grateful he helps me in my hobby.

And this one I made for Sketch Saturday #367 since Deedee’ s Digis was the sponsor. I used Hats Off Digital Image @ Deedee’s Digis.

Good Morning.

Today is a SUPER COOL day because my husband, Patrick, is releasing his first digital stamps! So that means I have a lot to post today since I will be making samples with his digital stamps! Plus I STILL had to play with the other digital stamps because they just are too darn cute not too! So I will try to keep the chatting to a minimal so this post isn’t a mile long!!

And the other AWESOME news is the new Clearly Digi Stamp store is finally up and running!! So come check it out I think you will like it!! **The old store will take you to the new store but if you want the address it is www.cdstamps.com

If you played in the all day challenge at Clearly iStamp or you stopped by to see what all the excitement was about then you would have seen this card already. But had to post it again because I like it a lot and it’s a digital stamp from my husband, Patrick. This is one dragon that you will get in the set called Dragons. I’m so lucky to have a talented husband that draws and a wonderful friend, Stephanine, that is amazing at sentiments for cards! They make my job a lot easier! I just love love love how this card turned out. It was all based off the wonderful sentiment. The sentiment isn’t included in the digital stamp but feel free to use it…..I just printed it out in word.

Soar on Birthday3_dramigos

Since we are on the topic of Dragons check out this one, Knight Marshmallow Roast, as by Patrick. This is another sentiment that Stephanine (my nick name for her!) came up with!! I love that girl!

This image is perfect for Father’s Day, Birthdays or just a Hello or Encouraging card for someone in the military. Patrick hopes to have a series of these as we already have a request for a tank and Navy guy. If you have any request let me know. This is Soldier Tom, named after my step-dad who was in the army.

Happy Fathers Day-soldier

Now here is some inspiration from digital stamps for two other AWESOME designers we have on the team. I am truly blessed to be able to play with all these images.

This is Asian Plants from Laurie Wilson. I’m so happy with how this card turned out! Thanks Laurie for giving us such great images to work with.

Challenge:

1) Sentimental Sundays#154 – For a Special Woman

Austin made this cute image and asked for help with sentiments….so of course I go to Stephanie and this is what she comes up with! Of course we are laughing but I send it to Austin anyway and apparently laughter is contagious because Austin got a kick out of it too! So she decided to include it in her stamp set, Elephants and Umbrellas.

This card was made just for fun!! Haven’t had time to do that in a long time so it was very nice. The challenge at 365 Cards was “Freedom.” While going through some paper last night I found this piece in my scrap drawer and thought it would be perfect. Then when trying to decide what I was going to do I thought the sketch for April Card Challenge was perfect. And that is how this card was made. Thanks for looking.

CHALLENGES:

1) Day 36 @ 365Cards – Freedom. Such a great word, and it means different things to everyone, so we’d like to see what it means to you.

2) April Card Challenge on sb.com – Sketch category. Use the sketch provided as inspiration.

SUPPLIES:

Cardstock – Bazzill

Patterned Paper – unknown from scrap drawer

Thank you to ALL military and their families…

Friday, 11/11/11, is Veterans Day in the United States so at For Fun Challenges we wanted to show our gratitude to anyone who has or is in the military and their family. I loved learning about where the girls on the design team live and how they do things different in their country. I assumed every military had a way to get cards while being away from their loved ones but that isn’t the case. One of the DT members, Sally, lives in the United Kingdom and I was able to find this link http://www.supportoursoldiers.co.uk/   and Sally was able to find this link http://www.britishlegion.org.uk/ It seems close to what we have in the United States with Operation Write Home. If you would like to send a thank you card (which are called Any Hero Mail) to an American Soldier here is a link to give you information on that http://operationwritehome.org/anyhero.html  That is what I will be doing with my Thank You card and encourage you to do the same. Please look over all the links on the Operation Write Home blog as there are guidelines on what to send (NO GLITTER) and how to send it.

We did not have a sponsor this week as we wanted you to get out your paper and look through your stamps to see what you had that could be made into a thank you card for an ANY HERO card!

And here is the card I was inspired to make:

For Fun Challenge 11/09/11
