School Encouragement Cards

This year I decided to mail the kids in my life cards at the beginning of the school year to encourage them in the adventure ahead! I then gave them a gift card to a local ice cream place because some days just require ice cream!! Each kid got a card that fit them and their grade in school.

Had a couple 2nd graders and then for the Kindergarten and 1st grade I did the one below.
Supplies:
Digital Image/Patterned Paper: Diane's Daydream Designs
Metal Dies: Stitched Circle
Sketch: Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #487
Those kiddos had younger siblings that aren't old enough for school but didn't want to leave them out so they got the ones below. Basically told them to be good and have fun while their older sibling was in school then they could all go for ice cream!
Supplies:
Digital Stamps: Clear Dollar Stamps/Lisa's Doodley Doos (Ice Cream Sticks). I colored them to match the kiddo they were going to.
Then my nephew's and niece (Benedict kids) I adopted when a coworker got hurt 3 years ago got these. The younger are in same grade due to how their birthdays fell on the calendar. The older boy is in 8th grade this year.
This image is special not only for my bright young man it went to but because my husband drew it when he was making a few digital stamps for Clearly Digi Stamps. My nephew is also learning how to draw so extra special to have one of Uncle Patrick's drawings.

Supplies:
Digital Image: DunnitAgain Designs - (Time for School)
Cardstock: Bazzill
Patterned Paper:
Digital Image: Miss Kate Cuttables (5th & 6th Grade Title) *I just recolored mine.
Patterned Paper: Doodlebug
Embossing Folder: (stars)
This was the girl version for the older girls of a couple co-workers kids.

SUPPLIES:
Patterned Paper: Doodlebug
Digital Image: Paper Trail Design (Free Emoji Faces for personal use)
Cardstock: Bazzill

This card I made several years ago and had extra supplies made into kits but never got time to make them. Well I got them made this year so this one went to several of the kiddos.
Stamps/Images: Sweet & Spicy Digital Image by DeeDee Anderson (Clear Dollar Stamps)
Cardstock/Papers: Cardstock – Bazzill (Yellow base), We R Memory Keepers cardstock,
Patterned Paper – We R Memory Keepers (Hall Pass)

Techniques: Paper pieced the apple

Graduation

I needed a card for a friend who graduated college while working full time and raising a family. Very proud of him! So I used the sketch from the card challenge and made this whole card out of scraps!! Now that I’m looking at it I should of tilted the the top circle on the bottom so it would look like the hat was falling…oh well will do if I make another card! I got to use a brand new embossing template that I got a couple months ago when they were on sale at JoAnns.

CHALLENGES:
1) May Inspirational Card Challenge – Sketch Challenge – original sketch can be found here:

School Girl

I wanted to make a card for my niece to wish her well in school this year. I thought this image by Diane’s Daydream Design would be perfect for a 7th grader.

The background needed something but I didn’t have an embossing template that I liked for this. So I got out my scor-pal and made my own design based on the plaid in the skirt. I think it turned out pretty good!

CHALLENGES:
1) August Card Challenge @ Scrapbook.com – Technique – Stitching
2) Sketch-N-Scrap Card Sketch #31 – use the sketch provided as inspiration
3) Creative Card Crew Challenge #68 – embossing
4) Catch the Bug Challenge – August Bingo Challenge – Bold colors, embossing, school (I think those are bold colors!)
5) A Gem of a Challenge #126 – Stitching

SUPPLIES:
Image: School Days KD Kit @ Diane’s Daydream Designs
Cardstock: Bazzill (Candy Apple, Classic Yellowgreen, white)
Inks: pre-colored digital stamp printed on canon inkjet printer
Accents/Tools: Scor-pal, white floss, Lasting Impressions stitching template

Book Reader

I am really happy with this card!! I finally made a CAS card that I like! I don’t do CAS and it is usually hard for me but this one came together pretty easily. I also love that it was inspired by Sketch #4 at the September Card Sketch Challenge @ Scrapbook.com. Instead of 5 small hexagons I made one big one. I wanted to do this sketch but it had me stumped for a bit….but not any longer! I was also inspired by Ceal’s card @ Simply Beautiful Blog and took the sentiment from it.  I also went with the simple scheme to follow challenge #208 at ColourQ Blog – black, white and a splash of one color.

But most importantly I made this card for my niece to encourage her to read books. She is struggling in reading so I plan on sending this to her to help her along.

Challenges:

1) Catch the Bug Challenge – September photo challenge – school theme

2) A Gem of a Challenge #99 – use black on your card

3) Day 270 @ 365 Cards – Keep it Simple. Use only 3 items on your card – any three items, not including the sentiment.

4) Send a Smile 4 Kids Challenge – Anything Goes (as long as it is for a kid)

5) September Card Challenge @ Scrapbook.com – Photo inspiration category

Supplies:

Digital Image: Bookworms Digital Image (last day to get it at Clearly Digi Stamps)

Accents/Tools: Spellbinders Hexagon Dies, pop dots, Zig black pen, computer

Original Sketch: CAS(e) this Sketch #37

I’m on vacation but have been non stop crafting or running errands…..doing all the things that pile up while you work!! Not complaining as I have a lot of request for cards right now so I’m glad I’m on vacation and have time to make then and ENJOY the process.

Enough about that check out the JULY NEW RELEASES at Clearly Digi Stamps!! I’m only previewing two stamps that my husband designed but had several ideals pop up when I saw the other images…just ran out of time!!

The first one is from the Dino’s Digital Image at Clearly Digi Stamps:

Dinosaurs

I remembered I had this OLD Basic Grey paper that was dinosaur theme so I took it out to see if it would match. This paper was just perfect for it….but as I started working on it I felt it looked like a grown-up card not a kid card. But I went with it anyway and really like the card BUT then Lori reminds me I could of used “Older then Dirt” and made it a birthday card for an adult!! Duh…why didn’t I think of that!! I used Seize the Birthday Sketch #20 as my inspiration.

CHALLENGES:

1) 613 Avenue Create Challenge #28– Birthday

2) Seize the Birthday – Anything Birthday Challenge

3) Card Makin’ Mamas Challenge #72 – Monochromatic

4) Crafty Creations Challenge #230 – Pun Fun

The second card has to do with School…I know seems to early to think about school but actually its not that far away here in the mid west. School starts around Aug 12 so I asked my husband to do a School Theme set for all those BACK TO SCHOOL projects. This is what he came up with – Time for School Digital Image

TimeForSchoolProofSheet

The other DT members made wonderful cards with the Book Worm and Boy with Backpack so I decided to use the Apple with Worm. I’m actually going to send this to my friend who is a teacher and has been having some “trying” school years lately. The school she is in is in a rough area and the stories she tells is amazing. The school is getting a new principal this year and that can make or break a school year for a teacher. She is an amazing teacher with over 25 years experience so I thought I would send her some encourage as the school year starts next month. I used the Deconstruction Sketch #107 as my inspiration for the design.

Show us a new car, new driver, new baby, new house, new school, new teacher, new year, etc. Our sponsor this challenge is Bugaboo! We received some really cute stamps so I decided to do another card to post today as a reminder to come play with us!

I used the digital stamp – occupation bear teacher at Bugaboo stamps. I figured this card could be used to congratulate someone on becoming a teacher, a new school or even first day of school.

Stamps/Images: Occupation Bear Teacher at Bugaboo Stamps

Cardstock/Papers: Cardstock – Bazzill
