So I saw a digital image of a two hooks made into a heart. So I thought I bet that would look cool to actually use real fishing hooks….and this is the outcome. I have a couple ladies that like fishing themed love cards so I sent the ideal to them and they said go for it! So hopefully they like the outcome.
So I had been trying to think how to make the “baby and momma valentine card” into one that could be given to a husband from a wife only. So I came up with this Kissing Fish version! I used water color design paper from Michael’s to make the fish and the background. Love paper that lets me cheat cause I can’t make my own water color paper…doesn’t turn out as good! I used the same Tuesday Morning Sketch #388 as my inspiration.
SUPPLIES:
Digital Image: Kissy Fish @ Crooked Little Studio
Cardstock: Bazzill (Bahama)
Patterned Paper: Recollections (Color Splash 6 x 6 paper pad)
Technique: printed the digital image on colored paper and cut them out
Accents/Tools: Twine, computer, Xyron X, heart punch
I had an order for a 23rd Wedding Anniversary card that was in December. The card was for her daughter and at the wedding they used her grandmother’s crystal/gold glasses for the toast….so that was my inspiration for the card.
I made this one and decided I liked it enough I made another one for another lady who also needed an anniversary card. I made the rectangle one because she needed to mail it right away so it couldn’t be any special postage or mailing to it (square cards cost .68 and have to be Hand Stamp Only…no machine)
The bonus sketch picked out by LindsayE for the November Card Sketch Challenge inspired this card. I needed something that would work with 2 hearts and was romantic and that sketch seemed like it would work. I went through my scrap drawers and found pretty paper and here you have the finished product.
CHALLENGES:
1) November Card Sketch Challenge – bonus sketch. Original sketch was Cardabilities #131.
2) November Inspirational Card Challenge – Product – punches. Used Fiskars border punch.
A lady at work requested a Happy 13th Wedding Anniversary for her daughter and son-in-law. She said one of their weddings colors was Sage. I used the pagemaps sketch that was Sketch #1 in the June Card Sketch Challenge. Instead of the 6 flowers I did 2 hearts in that space. I used lace because that was the traditional gift for the 13th anniversary.
I’m so excited about this card. I saw the challenge at Scrapbook Blessings Club to make a Valentine/Love card using Christmas Stash and didn’t think much of it since I had all my Valentine cards done. Well while I was working on a Christmas card using old stash I saw the perfect stickers that looked nothing like Christmas but were all about Love! I had also been wanting to do sketch #3 at the Cardmakers Card Challenge @ Scrapbook.com but the inspiration hadn’t come to me till now. So not only did I use old old old supplies I was challenged and came up with a cute card. Love when that happens!! Haven’t been able to just play like that for a long time.
CHALLENGES:
1) Scrapbook Blessings Club February Challenge – Christmas Card Valentine – Make a Valentines, Love, Heart, Red/ White Color Combo card or project BUT YOU MUST USE CHRISTMAS SUPPLIES/ITEMS from your stash. This can be a paper, die cuts, stamps of a couple bundled in coats, two polar bears, etc.

Tag and birds – stickers from The Paper Studio (Happy Hootin’ Holidays Scrapbook Kit)

I bought a package of chalkboard tags last year and never got around to using them. So this year I saw Kathy101 post a sketch using a tag and thought they would be perfect. Well after several attempts I couldn’t get that sketch to work so I moved onto another sketch, Tuesday Morning Sketches #336, and love the outcome. I also went with these Chalkboard tags because the product category at the Inspirational Card Challenge is Chalkboard product. I paired it with a sunflower since one of the guys at work that placed an order his girlfriend’s favorite flower is the sunflower. And every girl should get their favorite flower on Valentine’s Day!I also have a goal to use up my non dwindling supplies so the background heart paper were scraps I had.
I had two tags that would work for this design so made two cards!
SUPPLIES:
Image: sunflower is paper pieced from Whimsy and Stars (Sunflower Bird Digital Stamp)
Cardstock: Bazzill (Glow, Raven)
Patterned Paper: The Paper Studio (B&W doodle hearts)
Accents/Tools: ribbon, heart brad, pop dots, xyron X sticker maker
Kathy101 started a Cardmakers Challenge in the Stamping/Cardmaking thread and her first sketch was super cute so I thought I would try it for a Valentine’s Card. It didn’t turn out as “wow” I had in my head but I like it. I’m also using it for the Jan Card Challenge – Product Category which was A new craft item you got for Christmas (or in the last 30 days). I actually got this Martha Stewart punch anywhere heart after Christmas! I went into Michael’s to get an ink pad so I could try the cloud technique for last months technique category (that I didn’t get done). Saw this punch on sale and had an ideal (not actually this but it was perfect for this sketch so a double deal!) so I got it.
SUPPLIES:
Punch: Martha Stewart punch all over the page – Pattern Heartbeat
Cardstock: Bazzill
Patterned Paper: Reminisce (grey polka dots)
Accents/Tools: 510 Xyron Sticker Maker, pop dots, Cricut, Basic George Cricut Cartridge
