Hippo Mother’s Day Card

Hippo Mothers Day

I have been making one of the guys at work Mother’s Day cards for his wife for the past 6 years (if not longer). He likes to have his kids represented on the card if possible. This year I found out she likes hippos so I remembered Gerda Steiner cute Hippo Stamp. It is no longer a digi stamp so I had to buy the clear stamp – Hippo with Butterfly. Now most of you know I am not a stamper and coloring is not my thing. Well I tried to color him and it looked horrible. After telling off my friends (Karen & Ro) that make stamping look easy God reminded me that wasn’t nice and to do what I’m comfortable with!! So I stamped on cardstock and paper pieced!! I love how he turned out. I found this color combo and used it for my inspiration.

I then had my husband design the saying for the shirt and I ran the shirt through the printer to print it on the shirt.

I used sketch #2 from May 2019 Card Sketch Challenge. I flipped it upside down and then added balloons coming from the original image.

Cardstock: Bazzill
Accents/Tools: Lawn Fawn Party Balloons, black string, EK Success 1/16 pop dots

Happy Birthday CAS style

CAS is not normally my style but a lady at work saw  a card I made in the past and wanted something along the same lines but done in blue and black. It is for her boss at work which is also one of my bosses so I definitely wanted it to be perfect. She liked it but he doesn’t get it till Monday so don’t know what his thoughts are just yet!

Happy Birthday to you Happy Birthday to you- lt blue

I did a lighter blue and a darker blue. She gave him the darker blue.

I used the sketch at Try Stampin’ on Tuesday. When I first saw the sketch I thought it was going to be hard and that I would probably not use it…but then it turned out perfect…love when that happens. I found the free word art on 1st Floor Flat.

Just wanting to remind you that there is only 4 days left to get a project done and entered into Deedee’s Digis World Card Making Day Challenge. It is a tic-tac-toe board and depending on what row you do depends on what free digital stamp you get! And there is also a chance to win a $10.00 gift code to the store with a random drawing.

I played along and completed row 8 – Clean & Simple, Send to someone right away, use a non-freebie image.

Give Thanks

I used Autumn Praises Digital Image from Deedee’s Digis.

You’re Soda Amazing

Soda Amazing

The challenge at Outlawz CAS Challenge this week is “favorite drink” but must keep your card Clean and Simple. Well, as you most know by now Clean and Simple is not my thing. But I wanted to play along and use one of Deedee’s Digis new stamps Drink it Up! So I went to the internet for inspiration on cards with drinks. I found some funny sayings but not what I wanted. Since Pepsi is my favorite drink I started looking up Pepsi quotes. And that is when I ran across a Valentine ideal where someone wrote “I think you’re Soda Amazing” on a 2 liter of Pepsi. I thought that would be perfect for my card. There is pre-c0lored image that could pass as coffee or soda but I asked my husband to make it look more like soda so he added bubbles! I think he did a pretty good job. I then went back to the internet to find inspiration in the Clean and Simple category. I found this card HERE and used it as my inspiration.

Water You up to

When I saw this image and saying last month I knew it would be perfect to send to my friend this summer. I have kept up pretty good sending her a card a month…been late a few months…but still going strong. So I figured this would be perfect for July or August and it’s just so cute with that saying! It fit in perfectly for the “Beach” challenge at Outlawz CAS Challenge. Now CAS is not my choice of style for card making but I do like how this one came out.

I bought this embossing folder a couple months ago knowing it would come in handy…just looks like water or space ship to me! So I was so excited when I looked in my embossing folders and saw it! It’s perfect…at least I think so. I also used an EK Success border punch that also reminding me of bubbles in water. Paired that with a Clean & Simple Stamping Sketch from 01/14/2011 and this was the result.

Thinking of you flowers

So several months ago I found Imagine That digis by Kris Blog and have been wanting to join in on the Digi of the Month challenge she has. But this was the first month I found time to play…and I barely found it this month! I had to squeeze it in today before a friends birthday party….but I made it! I liked how Donna Rinckel made her card with the flowers so I went that route too. I really like how simple and cute this card turned out. You can’t tell from the photo but there are yellow stickles in the middle of the flowers and the flowers are popped up with pop dots. The flower on the left is actually half popped up and half not since the top of the flower looks like it is under the leaf.

Thinking of youFlowers

I tried using some of the cute digi paper in the pack but my printer put lines through it and I didn’t have time to mess with it today. So I looked in my scrap drawer and found the perfect matching paper. I used Sketch Saturday #351 as my inspiration for the layout.

Last Challenge sponsored by Diane’s Daydream Designs

Today is a sad day as it is the last challenge being sponsored by Diane’s Daydream Designs. (There is still one going on that I hope to enter in with a DDD’s image but we will see if I get to it!) Diane honored the challenges she had signed up for January because she had no ideal till a couple days before January that the new VAT tax was going to shut down her business. So hopefully you will come over and play in Fan-Tastic Tuesday Challengeone layer card for a chance to win a prize pack of digital images from Diane’s Daydream Designs! Now technically mine is 2 layers because I laid the panel on the black card base but I just couldn’t have an all white card…this was as close as I was getting to a one layer card! I really like how this turned out because CAS cards is way out of my norm. This card was totally inspired by CAS(E) this Sketch #82.

I saw it and new it would be perfect for a one layer card. I then saw the sheep and the ideal to put the two together was born!! I printed the sheep and “Love you” and then ran it through the embossing folder. The sheep didn’t look right embossed so I printed a second sheep and stuck it on top of the embossed one. Love my Xyron X!! Added some punched hearts I had left over from another project and there you have a CAS Valentine/Love card.

Love Ewe

Clean and Simple

Even though Diane’s Daydream Designs is closed she is still honoring the challenges she signed up to sponsor in January. One of the challenges starts today and is Suzy Bee’s Bloomin’ Challenge with an Anything Goes with a twist of Clean & Simple (must do the twist). I don’t do traditional CAS very well. I consider my cards simple but they do have layers so that isn’t what traditional CAS is. It also takes me longer to do a CAS card then to do it how I normally do it. But I made one! One of my regular Christmas card customers never contacted me so I assumed he didn’t need cards this year. Well, with 4 days before leaving on his Christmas trip he calls and tells me he needs 16 cards!! Diane’s Daydream Designs had these amazing journal/mat cards that were beautifully put together so I used one of those. I then printed off baby Jesus from the Little Bits of Christmas and added him to the mat. Stuck the mat on a card base and the card was done.

Baby Jesus

I so wish Diane’s Daydream Designs didn’t have to close. I’m still sad about it and probably will be for a long time. The short time I was on her Design Team we got close as friends. She is an amazing woman and an amazing writer too. Check out her blog and her devotions will touch your heart. http://www.dianesdaydreamdesigns.blogspot.com/2014/12/word-art-wednesday-wisdom-of-god-plus.html

I hope you will play along in Suzy Bee’s Bloomin’ Challenge because Diane is offering these amazing stamps as the prize:

The Glory of Christmas

Diane’s Daydream Designs is sponsoring Penny’s Paper-Crafty Challenge this week and the challenge is Use Black Cardstock. This card took some work even though it is a Clean & Simple (CAS) card. Funny how the more simple cards take the most work. What I had in mind did not work out so I flipped the paper over to this word print design. Which I thought would be too busy but I ended up liking it! I kept trying to stick a star on here but my best friend would not give in and kept telling me NO (in a nice way). Then I asked my husband and he agreed with her so no star! I think it is simple and to the point…Christmas is about Christ the Lord!

I’m sure you have black cardstock lying around so come play with us!

1) Crafty Hazelnut’s Christmas Challenge #202 – Keep it flat. I put enamel dots on there but they aren’t as thick as a brad so I think it will mail with no extra postage.

2) Christmas Card Challenge #50 – Faith based.

3) Christmas Stampin’ All Year Long Challenge #36 (CSAYL) – Anything Goes

4) Crimbo Crackers Challenge #69 – Clean & Simple (CAS)

5) My Perfect Life – Festive 48 Challenge – Week 44 – make one Christmas card a week all year long!

I go Bananas!

I go bananas

Oh Deedee needs to stop making these adorable images! The image this month has sparked so many ideals in my head! I was going to work on other stuff this week and not make a card for the challenge but once I saw Anna’s cute card I decided I had to go ahead and make this!!

I don’t normally do CAS but this is what was inspired when I saw the digi and sketch #36 at Seize the Sketch. I cropped the bananas from the digi paper included in the digital stamp. I then placed them in a word document. I printed it out on bazzill white. I cut out an extra big banana and pop dotted it. That is the only dimension to this card.

1) August Card Challenge – Favorites Category – I used Seize the Sketch #26 that I saved in my favorites.
2) My Time to Craft Challenge #256 – Food and/or Drink
3) SweetStamps Blog Challenge #183 – Anything Goes

4) Deedee’s Digis August Monthly Challenge – use the digital stamp of the month and get next month’s image free.
