Favorite Fish in the Sea

One of the ladies at work wanted a card for her almost 1 yoa granddaughter to give her 16 yoa uncle (ladies son) for Valentine’s Day. She asked for that saying to be on the card. I decided to put it on the outside of the card and put Happy Valentine’s Day on the inside. I used the fish and rock scene from Diver Daniel Digital Stamp from Deedee’s Digis (no longer in business but she does have a blog she offers some of her images).

I was looking through my sketches trying to find something that would work with several fishes and one of them going the opposite direction. I decided to use Feeling Sketchy #162 as my inspiration. I flipped the elements so the cluster was on the right and the single fish was on the left. Instead of banners I used the rock image. I also flipped the elements upside down. She loved it when I gave it to her yesterday!

A Christmas Owl and Panda

Owl Christmas.JPG

So this was for one of the granddaughters of the lady at work. She requested an owl as that is what the granddaughter is into. I had been wanting to make a stair step card with these owls from Daydream Designs (no longer in business). I didn’t get the card done I wanted to make but I did use the owl! I saw MOJOMonday #477 sketch and thought it would work but was trying to figure out what to put in the corner. They are small but there are candy canes on the owls belly. So I went looking through my Cricut cartridges and found some that were perfect on the Christmas Cheer cartridge.

I didn’t forget your birthday…

I didnt Forget Birthday

Inside: I keep thinking it’s in July.

So Karen is hosting the Inspirational Card Challenge this month at Scrapbook.com and the Bonus Category is – Make a card for a belated birthday (7/2/16 – National I Forgot Day). As soon as I saw this I thought “did I forget again?” and got out my address book that has a birthday calendar in it. Yep, my step-mother-in-law’s birthday was in June not July. But to my defense I really thought it was in July. See we missed it last year but we really did just miss it last year. This year I was thinking about it and even looked and got in my head that I didn’t have birthday cards to make in June but had hers in July. So I tried to explain to her that she gets to celebrate the same birthday twice so it’s a bonus for her!! She laughed!! But also to my defense I do this with several people. If you remember last year I had to mail a card to my BFF (yes, best friend) EVERY month just so I would remember to put her card in the mail BEFORE her birthday…it worked!! And my best friend from 6th grade I still think her birthday is 9/23 when it is actually 9/22 so I also call her a day late. I have issues!! But it came in perfect timing for Karen’s challenge! Thanks Karen for helping a girl out!!

So in searching for ideals (cause my husband came up with a real cute one last year when we screwed up) I wasn’t sure what to do for this year. Well I saw a card with this saying and an elephant on it. When I read the outside of that card  the saying for the inside of my card came to me so I knew it was meant to be. I remembered Deedee’s Digis (no longer in business) had a cute elephant about not forgetting. Then I had tons of scraps that my friend left for me after helping her make signs for a wedding. Everything on this card is from scraps!!

A farmer, a cool pop and a BBQ griller!

Cow Fathers Day

So one of the girls at work needed 3 Father’s Day Cards. This dad she said like cows and was a farmer so I said I can do that! When trying to figure how to make it Father’s Day card my husband came up with the inside sentiment “Milk it for all it’s worth!” I loved the saying and so did the lady at work.

I think I might make this into a birthday card by tying balloons to it’s tail!

Chillin & Grillin

And her other dad likes to grill. I made a card for him about three years ago but this is a completely different image and feel to the card. I found Team Dad by Echo Park at my local scrapbooking store and thought it would be perfect for several cards. I ended up messing up one of the cards so I cut the grill out of it so I could pop dot it on top of the original image.

There is no cure but they can manage it now that they know he has it. My co-worker wanted to encourage her friend during this time. 3 Wise Men and sketch

Wise Men

Dec 1st Deedee’s Digis sponsored Feeling Sketchy Challenge #134 which was this sketch:

FeelingSketchy134

I wanted to make a sample and play along so I started looking through Deedee’s Digis Christmas images because I need one more religious card for this year. When I saw the Wise Men Digital Image I thought it could work with this sketch. In my mind the words would take the place of the other stars. I had just bought a new size of envelope for money cards but thought the size would work for this too…the size of the card is 3 1/2 x 7 1/4.  I never got the card done in time for the challenge but I did get it done in time for some orders I had! I was very thankful because the 3rd customer saw an error I had in my scripture so I only had to fix 5 cards…very thankful!

Gift Cards and Money Holders

In October I made a gift card holder so when I sold my cards at our work bazaar I placed them out and let people know I could make different ones since I ran out of time to have several designs displayed. I got orders….so I had to make up more!! I also had a lady ask if I could do money cards so I told her yes, so I had to make those up too. Now money cards were a little tricky finding a size that looked right for money and then finding envelopes. I got my inspiration from this blog but she used Stampin’ Up envelopes that I believe are discontinued as I couldn’t find them in a current catalog.  I figured out what size I needed it to be around and after searching the internet I found 3 7/8 x 7 1/2 envelopes at envelopesexpress.com so the finished card is 3 1/2 x 7 1/4.

I started with the gift cards holders since I already had one made for the order (the deer I made in October). She also wanted the cat image I made a card with and then an ice skater. I was excited about the ice skater as I bought this image, Bella Ice Skate, by Kristi Dailey several years ago and have never had the time to use it. She said the girls hair was between a blond and light brown so I did both and she chose the blond! The original gift card holder ideal I got my inspiration from was at Dawn’s Stamping Thoughts.

Money Holder - Ice Skater

I used I {heart} Sketches #101 as my inspiration.

Here is what the inside looks like:
