Mother’s Day Cards 2022

I need to be better about posting my cards so I might as well start with the Mother’s Day cards I made for this year. I haven’t been posting because I haven’t had time to list all the supplies that go with them. But I’m going to try to post them and add to the supplies as I have time. If there is something I used you want to know more about just ask me in the comments and I’ll let you know.

So this was for all the cowboy/Texan mom’s out there! I made a card with this image years ago called Cowgirl Flowers but decided to make a new version this year for some new customers that wanted this theme for their Mother’s Day card.

Tool Time Perfect For Fathers Day

My Father-in-law in an amazing wood worker. He made us Jewelry box that is Amazing and most the furniture in his house is made by him. His back doesn’t allow him to do much anymore but when he does I am in awe of his creations. This runs in the family as my husband is also good in making things. Now I just have to figure out how to keep my garage but give my husband a creative space! So when I saw Tool Time at Diane’s Daydream Designs I knew they would make the perfect Father’s Day card.

Samples for Scrapbook.com challenges

So I’m hosting 2 card challenges at Scrapbook.com this month for Karen who is going on VACATION for the WHOLE month (sooo jealous!!). She is amazing and usually has all the challenges done and post them as samples. Well, I’m not that good so I will play along with everyone else this month. But here are 3 samples I did get done so far.

Daisy Happy Birthday

I originally planned on using this beautiful bouquet daisy digital stamp from Diane’s Daydream Designs for one of the May challenges but I just couldn’t get the card to work. So I saw this sketch and tried it which I’m so glad I did because I LOVE IT!!

CHALLENGES:

1) June Card Sketch Challenge @ Scrapbook.com – Sketch # 2 – Originally came from Scrappy Sketches #35-13

2) Seize the Birthday Challenge – Make a birthday card and use the topping if you want (optional) – Tags. I chose not to do the topping unless you count the “Happy Birthday” saying as a tag.

Inside:

Happy Birthday

to a lovely young woman;

full of grace, beauty,

spirit and fire.

I made this card for a guy at church who wanted it for his Granddaughter’s 17 or 18th birthday (He wasn’t sure but it was one of those). She likes horses so I thought Carousel Horse 1 from Doodle Pantry was perfect.

CHALLENGES:

1) June Card Sketches @ Scrapbook.com – Sketch #5 – Originally from Tuesday Morning Sketches #217

2) Seize the Birthday Challenge – Make a birthday card and use the topping if you want (optional) – Tags. I chose not to do the topping.

Panda with Balloons

When I saw May Digi of the Month, It’s Not a Tie,  at Deedee’s Digi I knew that I tie wouldn’t work for my father-in-law so I got to thinking! I kept seeing the Panda holding balloons so I wrote Deedee and asked permission to remove the tie from his hand. Deedee agreed that my wonderful husband could work his magic in Adobe and take the tie away. I still wasn’t sure what it was going to look like except I wanted balloons. Well, the inspiration photo this month for the June Card Challenge @ Scrapbook.com inspired this card. The photo is a little girl in a red polka dot dress holding a bouquet of red balloons. I embossed the red paper with dots to get the feel of the red polka dot dress. I dragged out an older sketch, The deconstructed Sketch #46, for this card.

CHALLENGES:

1) June Card Challenge @ Scrapbook.com – Photo Inspiration Category – use the photo as your inspiration

2) Deedee’s Digi of the Month Challenge – Use May’s Stamp of the Month and you will get June’s Digi of the Month FREE!

Just some cards

Here are a couple cards I got done this weekend.

Easter Blessings

This was another card offered at Card Class this weekend. When I saw this image, Christ is Risen, at Daydream Designs by Diane I “ohhh” out loud. It is beautiful drawn and colored that I just had to use it when several of the ladies asked for a religious Easter card. And the inside I combine two of the sentiments in the set:

Death could not CHAIN HIM

A tomb could not HOLD HIM

The enemy could not DEFEAT HIM

Christ is Risen!

CHALLENGES:

1) April Card Challenge @ Scrapbook.com – Sketch Category – Merry Monday Sketch #68 was our inspiration. It worked perfectly for this card!!

2) Sweet Stamps Blog Challenge #164 – Easter

His Name Is with cross

*The white background is NOT part of the card….just put it down to get a decent picture on a glass table.

I know you have seen 2 other cards with this image, His Name Is, but I can’t help it because friends keep requesting it! I made this one for a lady who saw the last two and wanted one with a cross instead of flowers. I had to make this card quickly and during Card Class so I’m surprised it came out so good! She said she liked the Spring version but without flowers so I tried to do that one and modify it. It wasn’t working for me and she didn’t seem thrilled either so back to the sketch folder. She liked the tilted look of first card I did in rainbow colors. So I found Mojo Monday sketch #340 and went to work.  I flipped the sketch on its side. Then for the ribbon on the right I used a piece of embossed paper and put it under the image instead of on top of it. Then where they had the banner/circles I put the cross there instead.  I used a wooden cross from Hobby Lobby and covered it with paper. It needed something more so I cut out the purple piece from the Christ is Risen Digital Image at Diane’s Daydream Designs and added it to this cross.

CHALLENGES:

1) Mojo Monday Sketch #340 (MOJO340) – Use the sketch provided as inspiration.

Lighthouse Birthday

Let me tell you how blown away I was on the coloring of this image!! This set use to be a Clearly Digi Stamp (went out of business) and so I had it. But when I saw how beautifully Laurie re-did the coloring for Doodle Pantry I had to buy this set! I cut out the blue sky area that was behind the light house because it didn’t fit right in the oval. I used an older sketch, #249,  from Unscripted Sketches….I just flipped it on its side. I roughed up the edges of the card with a distresser.

CHALLENGES:

1) Doodle Pantry Digital Challenge #45 – Anything Goes….BUT if you use a DOODLE PANTRY image you will get the featured digital image FREE! I used Sheltering Lights Digital Image for a masculine birthday card that a friend needed for her brother-in-law’s birthday.

2) April Card Challenge @ Scrapbook.com – Technique Category – paper piercing. I pierced around the frame.
