Plaid Snowman w-stickles

My Christmas stash is gone so needed to make some Christmas cards. When I saw this FREE image I thought it would make super cute cards and I have a friend that would love it! And I think my step-MIL will like this one too! One of my regulars needed a card for a friend of his and he didn’t have anything in mind. So I thought this would work. I sent him a photo and his response was “can I have that one for my mom instead!” He said she loves Cardinals. So then I had to think of another card for his friend (see button Christmas tree). I added stickles to the snowflakes and snow mounds but the snowflake sparkle didn’t show up very well. I used this card from Taylored Expressions as my inspiration.

Peacock

Boss's Day - peacock

So I had a couple last minute Boss’s Day cards (Monday Oct 16, 17) to make yesterday (she emailed Thursday asking for cards on Friday…good thing I was off!) The lady liked a peacock card I did in May for Mother’s Day but she wanted a saying on the front. So I made a new card with the same image (printed just a little smaller to fit on 5 x 7 card with different design). The lift category in the October Inspirational Card Challenge is to lift yourself! So I went looking in my gallery to see if any of my cards would allow for a large image and a saying on the front. Again I wanted to keep the focus on the beautiful image. I found the card BirdBrain Birthday Candle (which is inspired by MojoBella #25 Sketch)

I did print a second copy and cut out the peacock so I could pop dot it on the original to make it look like the peacock was really on the leaves.

Peacock

So I apparently forgot to post this when I made this for a Mother’s Day order! (I discovered this while making a second version with this image…see next post) This was for a lady’s grandmother who loves birds and she requested a peacock this time. I wanted the image to be the focus so I made it pretty large which kept the design of the card simple. I did print a second copy and cut out the peacock so I could pop dot it on the original to make it look like the peacock was really on the leaves.

Feathers

Native American Proverb

I’m part of a card swap….but it’s not your ordinary card swap. This one you give a name of someone who could use happy mail in their mailbox. The reasons are endless….sometimes it’s just good to get a smile in the mail. Then the hostess mixes up the names and gives you a name of someone to make a card for. This is for my June person…I’m a little late…but hopefully will go in the mail Monday. I had a lady who is Native American and likes her Native American Heritage, purple and butterflies. I went with her heritage and feathers. The colors of the feathers are showing up a little brighter than they are in real life…they are the colors of the papers…I promise (I have a matchy issue…they must match!!) There was no reason for the card except to get happy mail.

I needed a sympathy card for a lady at work. I just used some stickers from this package so I thought that the bird would make a good sympathy card. So I looked through my sketches and liked the sketch picked for the Feb Inspirational Card Challenge @ scrapbook.com. I went through all my scraps and just couldn’t find anything that worked so I would to my closet full of paper racks. I pulled out my brand new DCWV Violet Leaf paper pack and it had paper with gold foil on it!! It was perfect…thank you Flutterbye0419 for telling me I NEEDED this paper pack last month!! And this is what came together when I combined my supplies and sketch! I was pretty pleased with it…different then what I normally do but I like it!

4th of July Cards

I’m so far behind in posting cards. I took my annual vacation to the scrap retreat a couple weeks ago and I just can’t seem to get caught up.

These 2 cards were made for a guy at work. Mary Ellen at Dearie Dolls made a basset hound holding a flower in May. So I asked her if it could be switched out to hold a flag and she did it! So I made cards for the guy at work to give to his mom and aunt. Then I made extras and mailed it to my family. My husband colored the image in photoshop. He is so amazing and I’m so grateful he helps me in my hobby.

And this one I made for Sketch Saturday #367 since Deedee’ s Digis was the sponsor. I used Hats Off Digital Image @ Deedee’s Digis.

Water You up to

When I saw this image and saying last month I knew it would be perfect to send to my friend this summer. I have kept up pretty good sending her a card a month…been late a few months…but still going strong. So I figured this would be perfect for July or August and it’s just so cute with that saying! It fit in perfectly for the “Beach” challenge at Outlawz CAS Challenge. Now CAS is not my choice of style for card making but I do like how this one came out.

I bought this embossing folder a couple months ago knowing it would come in handy…just looks like water or space ship to me! So I was so excited when I looked in my embossing folders and saw it! It’s perfect…at least I think so. I also used an EK Success border punch that also reminding me of bubbles in water. Paired that with a Clean & Simple Stamping Sketch from 01/14/2011 and this was the result.

So this week I made the last of the Mother’s Day Cards that were needed for the people at work.

Butterflies

One of the guys at work wanted a Mother’s Day card with a Rainbow theme since his mother loves rainbows. This card was inspired by a card I found on Pinterest – http://iminhaven.blogspot.com/2012/01/color-my-world.html I didn’t have a flower die or punch that would work for this so a trip to Michael’s was the solution. I bought a Martha Stewart anywhere punch of a butterfly. It was too big to do the original design so this is what I came up with.

I did a 2nd card and messed up on the punching so I put the sentiment on the outside. Which do you like better?? Please let me know as I want to make more and I can’t decide which one to do.

CHALLENGES:
1) May Card Challenge @ Scrapbook.com – Favorites Category – Recreate a card or sketch you’ve saved in your favorites either on this site, a blog, or Pinterest.
