Hooked on You

So I saw a digital image of a two hooks made into a heart. So I thought I bet that would look cool to actually use real fishing hooks….and this is the outcome. Lake Cabin

I have a customer that lives in a lake house so I made this card for her to give her husband for Father’s Day. I used the Cabin SVG from Miss Kate Cuttables.

Accents/Tools: Gina Marie Designs Dies (stitched sky die set), Joy Crafts Die (clouds), xyron x, Xyron 510, EK Success pop dots

Bear - fishing scene

I made a lake cabin card scene (see above) and had extra supplies out on the desk from it. I then got an order from a lady that wanted her granddaughter (1 yoa) to give her uncle (17 yoa) a card for “uncle’s day”. He is a big fishermen and I know will teach her how to fish. So I had a bear left over and decided to pair him up with the lake scene. I thought it worked for a kid to give to an uncle. Stamping is not my thing but since I bought the set I thought I would use. The lady and her son “uncle” loved it!

So I had been trying to think how to make the “baby and momma valentine card” into one that could be given to a husband from a wife only. So I came up with this Kissing Fish version! I used water color design paper from Michael’s to make the fish and the background. Love paper that lets me cheat cause I can’t make my own water color paper…doesn’t turn out as good! I used the same Tuesday Morning Sketch #388 as my inspiration.

Anything Goes with a Birthday card and Easter card

Penny’s Paper-Crafty Challenge this week is Anything Goes. So I first made the birthday card for a friends brother in-law and decided it fit my father-in-law so I made him one too!

Great Outdoors Birthday

Then I decided to make a card for the Word Art Wednesday Challenge so I will share it at Penny’s Paper-Crafty Challenge also.

TheLordLiveth

There is free Word Art of this scripture on the blog but it didn’t fit the space I had since it was more of horizontal sentiment. So I tried to mimic what she did and made it vertical. When I saw this scripture it made me think of this digital image by Deedee’s Digis so that is why I went with it.

Inside: The chill of winter is warmed by friendship (comes with the digi stamp)

I don’t know why but it seems I forget my really close friends birthday. It has always been this way. You think I would remember them since they are my closest friends but what happens is I remember it is coming up then don’t think about it again till after it is gone…or I think their birthday is on a certain day but actually I’m usually a couple days off. So any who I’m always late wishing my bestest friend Cheryl happy birthday which is in November. So I decided this year I’m going to send her a card every month so when it comes to November I will send her birthday card! Plus we need to chat more and I make all these wonderful cards so why not send them to the people that mean the most. That’s my goal this year….let’s see how well I do at it. It is halfway through January but still in January so I’m still good if I get the card in the mail this week!

This month I decided to do a winter friendship card since it fit the cold spell we had these past two weeks. I used Deedee’s Digis Digi of the Month image – Ice Fishing. (when you get to the store click on the area you live in EU residents or Non-EU Residents. Then you will see a tab for Digi of the Month…click on that.) This adorable digi is FREE this month till Feb 1st AND if you make a project with it and link it to the challenge you will get a $10.00 coupon to the store AND next month’s image FREE. Since the store is 75% off till the end of the month you can get a lot free for $10.00. And you can enter as many times as you want.

A Handsome Greeting Card Organizer!

Thanks to For Fun Challenges I finally got the Masculine Greeting Card Organizer done for my Father In-law….it has only taken me 5 years but it’s done!

My Mother in-law and Sister in-law love having my cards on hand to give out to people. So I decided one Christmas to make them pretty tins to be able to keep the cards in. Then a couple times a year I would refill their stash. When my mother in-law passed away in 2006 my sister in-law took the cards and added them to her collection but didn’t need the tin. So I think it got thrown away or given away (can’t remember). At the time we didn’t really think my father in-law would have use for it since he doesn’t send out a lot of cards. Well, we were wrong. We got a call one day asking where the card box went so we told him and he said he was looking for it so he could send a card out. So I told him I would make a “manly” box for him to keep his cards in. I have given him cards to use but just haven’t got around to making the tin.

I realized I didn’t have any more tins that opened from the top and was the right size so last month a friend of mine gave me an extra one she had. Then Helen at For Fun Challenges decided to REALLY challenge us with a ANYTHING BUT A CARD CHALLENGE. I decided this was the perfect “kick in the pants” I needed to get it done. I had some cool looking manly paper (same paper I did the fishing card out of last month) and paired it with the Time to Fish Digital Image from Clear Dollar Stamps.  My husband helped me by telling me it needed the fishing pole and fish on there with the basket. I came up with the metal stringer and brads…which I think turned out cute! I actually think the WHOLE thing turned out pretty awesome! On the inside lid I placed instructions on mailing bulky cards….they cost more and you have to put “hand stamp only” on the envelope and hand the envelope to the mail clerk. Then I added the light tan piece to make a pocket to put some of the 65 cent extra posting stamps in there for him. That way he can keep them in there since they are for the cards.

I hope the challenge will inspire you to do something you have been wanting to do but haven’t had time! Put down the card making supplies and do something different!!
