Spring Time Cards

I have a customer that has an older lady friend that he is like a nephew too so I decided he needed to send her a springtime card! She loves the garden and figured she could use happy mail during the quarantine. Then I ended up making two alike so I decided my best friend, Cheryl, needed a happy mail card too so she got the Hello Sunshine.

Springtime

Cutting out a different photo journaling card I had that pink frame left over. That flower piece is another journaling card and it fit over it perfectly so I put them together. Then I saw Sketch #360 at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge and used the “springtime” cut from same paper to put the card together!

Vibrant Friend Birthday

Vibrant Funny Friend

I had a birthday order that was Christian theme, likes yellow and bright colors. So I found a Christian saying that the lady liked and then set out to make the card. I was struggling so I went to My Princess-peaces’ gallery as she is the “lift” category of the March Inspirational Card Challenge @ Scrapbook.com. I lifted this card.

Since there is more bling on this card then I usually use I’m going to enter this one into the Product category – bling, shine, etc. I lifted another one of her cards that I will enter into that category.

Coffee Cafe Birthday

I needed a birthday card for girl that likes coffee. I’m so glad Faith at From the Heart Stamps was able to re-open her store and is doing so well in her battle with brain cancer. My husband colored the image in Photoshop…did an amazing job…look at the steam from the coffee!! I struggled with this sketch a bit but think it turned out okay. They all can’t be our favorites, right?!! I was trying to make the blue pieces represent the napkin in the image so I embossed them with the closest “napkin feel” embossing folder and distressed the edges. I used Sketch #3 from the Feb Card Sketch Challenge @ Scrapbook.com – the original sketch is Sketch Saturday#448.

Digital Stamp: Coffee and Friends @ From the Heart Stamps
Cardstock: Bazzill (walnut)

I had an order for a birthday card for a lady that is in her 70’s with the following inside: “Wine improves with age —

So I realized in looking through my cards I made this at the beginning of 2016 and forgot to post it. This was for a lady that liked a tea/coffee card I did with the same sentiment  but wanted it to say wine. I used the same image, Birdbrain wine, by From the Heart Stamps and just left the bird off.

I can’t remember what sketch I used but if I find it I will update my post.

Take a Break

take-a-break

My hair dresser/friend had a stroke in March and is recovering. They think it was caused by some meds and migraine meds but not totally sure. She is doing amazingly well and was allowed to come back to work last month. To encourage her on days that she can’t do as much as she wants to I sent her this card. I reminded her that her body is healing on the inside and even though she looks healed on the outside her brain is still healing. I wrote this verse inside:
“And my God will meet all your needs
according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”
– Phillippians 4:19

Her husband told me she liked pink and Dr. Pepper so that is what I went with. Used old supplies and scraps I had in my scrap drawers!

Lady Golf Bag

Golfbag female

I had an order for a birthday card for a 60ish lady that loves to play golf. She also like primary/bold colors. While searching for images and inspiration I saw a card that used the Wrap it Up cricut cartridge. So I went looking through my cartridges and I had it!! And it has this golf club set in it!! It had swirls on the top layer so I left that off. I used MOJO Bella Sketch #14 for my inspiration…I know the circle with the #14 could be part of the sketch but doesn’t have to be but I liked it as it was a perfect spot for the golf ball!

Bunny with Carrot

Easter Bunny Carrot

Inside:

Hoping your Easter world
is bright and beautiful,
warm and wonderful,
sweet and special…

…just like you.

So I found Gerda Steiner Designs while looking for examples of pig stamps out there since that was the theme I chose for the March Inspirational Card Challenge @ Scrapbook.com. She has clear, rubber and digital stamps so something for everyone. While looking around on her site I found the monthly challenge… which I love monthly challenges. A digi stamp is posted each month and you have to make a project using it. Then you will get next months stamp FREE!! So I decided to “hop” in this month (pun intended) and purchase this cute rabbit so I could play along. I thought he would make a cute Easter card and he did. I sent it to my best friend in Kansas City as I’m still trying to send her a card a month.

The images only come in outline so I had to bat my eyelashes at my husband and ask really nice to color this up for me in Photoshop. He did and somehow always knows what colors to use. I just happen to have the perfect doodlebug paper from YEARS ago that matched it.

I used sketch #2 that was posted on the March Card Sketch Challenge (Kathy101) @ Scrapbook.com. It doesn’t say where the original sketch came from. I didn’t follow it exact but you can see the sketch…that’s what I love about sketches…they start your creativity but you aren’t bound to stick to the exact sketch.

CHALLENGES:

  1. Gerda Steiner Designs Monthly Challenge – March – Use the digital image to make a project and next month’s image will be free!
  2. March Card Sketch Challenge @ Scrapbook.com – I used sketch #2.
  3. March Inspirational Card Challenge @ Scrapbook.com – Photo Inspiration #1 Category.

SUPPLIES:

Digital Image: Carrot Bunny @ Gerda Steiner Designs

Cardstock: Bazzill (Bubblegum, Raven)

Patterned Paper: Doodlebug

A Blue Butterfly Birthday!

So my neighbor/friend’s birthday was the 11th and I knew she liked the color blue, Disney, nature and flowers. So I designed this card with that in mind….she liked it!!

Dear Friend Birthday

CHALLENGES:

1) September Sketch Challenge @ Scrapbook.com – Bonus Sketch #6 – original a sketch from Scrapbook Generations

2) Tuesday Throwdown #213 – Butterflies and Bows

3) Love to Create Challenge #133 – Add some lines. Wasn’t a 100% sure what this meant but I figured lines in the paper, the paper in a line, stitching in a line would qualify…if not then let me know and I will withdraw.

4) Sparkles Monthly Challenge #60 – Things with Wings

5) Seize the Birthday – Create a birthday project with or without the topping. The topping was Sweet Treats. I did it without the topping.

SUPPLIES:

Digital Image: Framed Comfort @ Deedee’s Digis

Cardstock: Bazzill

Patterned Paper: Chatterbox (scraps in my scrap drawer)

Inks: pre-colored digital stamp printed on Canon Inkjet Printer (I took the pre-colored digi and just made the outer color darker in photoshop)

Accents/Tools: cutter bee scissors, ribbon, white Signo pen, pop dots, glue dots

I was sweating it!

Today is the last day to make a project with the February Stamp of the Month at From the Heart Stamps (FTHS) and I just got it done! This month hasn’t allowed for much crafting and now I’m sick with a cold. Some people can craft when they are sick…I’m not one of them. My creative juices are plugged up with sinus crap at the moment so I’m surprised I was able to get this done. I’m happy with it for now we will see when I feel better if I still like it! I made it with one of my Best Friends in mind that has a birthday in April. Her favorite color combo is yellow and dark blue so that is what I used.

Don't Sweat it

Inside Card: … you still look like a Spring Chick!

This stamp, Birthday Candle Birdbrain, comes with a ton of sentiments! I was having a hard time people which one to use! I colored the bird in photoshop (have a hard time with yellow when I do watercolors) the rest I did with Tombow markers.

I used Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #208 as my inspiration. Instead of the second block on the bottom I did a long skinny one to hold my sentiment. I also offset the image from the blue mat.

CHALLENGES:

1) February Stamp of the Month Challenge @ From the Heart Stamps – Use the image provided and get next months Monthly image free!

2) Simply Create Too Challenge #56 – Shop in your Stash! I so need this challenge….about a 100 times! Everything is from my scrap drawer too! I even had the yellow embossed piece in there! Nothing new on this card!

3) Seize the Birthday – Anything Goes. No topping this week just make a birthday card!

4) March Card Challenge @ Scrapbook.com – Product Category – Fiber/Thread (no ribbon)…I’m hoping floss is okay!

5) Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #208 – Use the sketch provided as your inspiration.

6) Sentimental Sundays Challenge #195 – Make your own background paper

SUPPLIES:

Digital Image: Birthday Candle Birdbrain @ From the Heart Stamps

Cardstock: Bazzill

Inks/Markers: the bird was colored in photoshop, the rest I used Tombow markers (blue – 452, 565, 535) (yellow – 055)

Accents/Tools: button, floss, Cuttlebug Happy Birthday embossing folder
