Music inspired cards

Music Wedding

I had an order for a wedding with blues and grey tones and music themed…she is an opera singer. I didn’t get to April’s Card Sketch #2 – originally a Paper Craft Crew #235 – last month and when I looked at it I thought it would work for a wedding card. This is what I came up with and was very pleased with it.

May Inspirational Card Challenge – favorites category.

Cardstock: Bazzill (Jacaranda, cinder, smokey, bazzill white)
Accents/Tools: Twine from Target, heart rhinestones, The Paper Studio Music embossing folder, EK Success 1/16 pop dots, cricut, Basic George Cricut Cartridge

Music Birthday

So I needed a music themed birthday for a 96 year old (I made her one last year too). Since I had just made the music wedding card I thought maybe I could put flowers instead of hearts and this is how it turned out. The Recollections flowers were a RAK from TexasMomOf4 several years ago.

May Inspirational Card Challenge – favorites category.
I made another one (see attached) but made it general birthday with a Happy Birthday embossing folder.

I used Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #235 for my inspiration.
Cardstock: Bazzill (Petunia, African Daisy), The Paper Studio (purple)
Accents/Tools: The Paper Studio Music embossing folder, Recollection flower pack, pink rhinestones, Doodlebug bright assortment twine, pink brads

Happy Birthday flowers

I made the music one and still had a set of flowers left so I made another one just using a Happy Birthday folder instead.

Cardstock: Bazzill (Petunia, African Daisy), The Paper Studio (purple)
Accents/Tools: Cuttlebug Happy Birthday embossing folder, Recollection flower pack, pink rhinestones, Doodlebug bright assortment twine, pink brads

Vibrant Friend Birthday

Vibrant Funny Friend

I had a birthday order that was Christian theme, likes yellow and bright colors. So I found a Christian saying that the lady liked and then set out to make the card. I was struggling so I went to My Princess-peaces’ gallery as she is the “lift” category of the March Inspirational Card Challenge @ I lifted this card.

Since there is more bling on this card then I usually use I’m going to enter this one into the Product category – bling, shine, etc. I lifted another one of her cards that I will enter into that category.

Cardstock: Bazzill (cinder, lemonade)
Patterned Paper: My Mind’s Eye (Kate & Co -Cambridge Court)
Accents/Tools: misc pink gems, Prima flowers, Martha Stewart Doily Lace edge punch, Cricut Expressions, Basic George Cricut Cartridge,

Cards inspired by stickers

So you have heard me talk about that I’m on a kick to use my stuff that I have in piles everywhere. One of the ladies at started a sticker challenge. I thought that would be great to play along as I have 2 sticker binders (remember those 12 + years ago!!) full of them. A lot of the stickers I have are for scrapbook pages and are to big for cards but I still have a several I could use up!

So I went into my sticker binder looking for stickers to make cards with and came across two packs that I think were from the $1 bin at Wal-mart but not positive. This is what I came up with:

Vellum Vase Sticker

I used this card ( as my inspiration.

Sparkling Snowflakes

I needed a card with “sparkle” so I could play over at Cupcake Inspirations Challenge as they are having a 300th post Bash with a TON of prizes. There will be 3 inspiration photos….one today – Sparkle, one on Tuesday – Color and one on Thursday – Confetti. You have until the March 14th to enter the three challenges. Deedee Digis is a sponsor and her prize package is part of Color challenge so that one is a must to enter if you want to win a $25.00 gift card to Deedee’s Digis. She just put some super cute Easter digital stamps in the store.

I went looking in blog land looking for inspiration. I can’t even remember how I found Tamytha’s blog with this beautiful card but I did and it inspired my card. I think you can see I took the basic ideal of the card but also made it my own.  Yes, I fussy cut all those snowflakes out!! Not sure I will make multiple of these but I do like how it turned out. I couldn’t decided what to put on the front tag so I thought it would make a good Christmas card for a teacher. Added blue jewels in the center of the snowflakes for my “sparkle” and my card was done!

Cancer Encouragement card

Bone Cancer Encouragment-email

A couple weeks ago I got in touch again with a friend that I met through a challenge. She told me that in December her 18 yoa son was diagnosed with bone cancer…he has 2 tumors in his hips. I asked her if it would be weird if I sent him an encouragement card and she said no that he would like it. She was actually trying to find ways to get cards sent to her son during this journey. So I wanted a simple and manly card since it was going to an 18 year old male. When I saw sketch #93 at CAS(E) this Sketch I knew it would be perfect for this digital image from Diane’s Daydream Designs. Unfortunately Diane’s had to close shop because of the new VAT tax law in Europe but I can still play with her images and pout that they are no longer available.

I conquered the sketch!!

Oh Holy Night

It appears Karen, the hostess for the Card Sketch Challenge @, really likes this sketch, Sketch-N-Scrap Card sketch #7,  because she has picked it twice now for the challenge!

aug 5th

Not only has this been inspiration on her challenge I also saw it when it was originally posted! Love the sketch but apparently it scares me and my brain freezes when I try to do it. So I never conquered it…till now!! When I saw it again as inspiration on the Card Sketch challenge I knew I had to do it. Which this time wasn’t as hard as I had the perfect digital stamp from Diane’s Daydream Designs to work with – Christmas Wonder Sentiment Set. I love how it came it. It was also quick which was good because one of my regular customers forgot to play his Christmas card order for 16 cards and needed them in 2 days. So I made 5 of these! The blue patterned paper came from a DCWV paper pack that I got free from my friend Lisa.

If you like this digital image then you must get over to Diane’s Daydream Designs as she is closing shop on Dec 30th. This is what she wrote:

Daydream Designs will be closing December 31 due to tax regulation for online digital download businesses like this one.  The foreign tax is call VAT (Value Added Tax) and it requires US businesses to assess taxes for sales in countries in the European Union.  The regulations are cumbersome, and create an impossible paper nightmare for small companies.  One way around the situation would be to limit sales to US customers only, but that would cut into nearly half of all Daydream Designs sales. That scenario makes profit impossible  and necessitate the close of our store.

Hopefully there is one small silver lining for all of us….our CLOSE OUT sale.

From now through December 30

Strawberry Birthday

Strawberry Birthday

Enjoy every delicious moment of it!

One of the ladies at the retirement turned 100 on July 5th and they had a little party for her. I wanted the card to be special so I found out that her and husband use to have strawberry patches so I decided to use that inspiration for the card. I used an image from Preserving Sweetness Color Set at Diane’s Daydream Designs.

1) July Card Challenge @ – Sketch Category – The original sketch came from Scrappy Sketches. Instead of the flags at the bottom I did rows of scallops.
2) A gem of a Challenge #124 – Spots and Stripes (I’m hoping the plaid counts as stripes)
3) Crafty Creations Challenge #267 – Let’s Party
4) Digi Sketch Challenge – In the Garden – strawberries are for sure in the garden!!
5) Seize the Birthday Challenge – Do a birthday card and if you want challenge yourself with doing the “topping”. I did not use the “topping” just did a birthday card.

Doggy Love Basket

Doggy love basket

I made one similar to this 2 years ago that a guy at work saw and wanted one for his mom. So I changed it up a little but used the same papers and colors. Instead of coloring in the image with markers I colored it in Photoshop. Nothing fancy as I haven’t figured out how to do that but I can use the paint bucket pretty good!!  I used Tuesday Morning Sketches #234 as my inspiration.

1) Meljen’s Designs Challenge #196 – I {heart} you – use hearts on your project.

2) Simply Create Too Challenge #54 – Mothers Day or for a female. This is for his mom.
