Racoon - Be Happy

I had a request from a lady who wanted a birthday card for her niece that was in her 20’s. One of the things she liked was raccoons so I decided this image from Gerda Steiner was perfect. The lady requested “be happy” on the sign.

April Inspirational Card Challenge – Theme – Birthday

SUPPLIES:
Digital Image: Racoon Digital StampGerda Steiner Stamps.
Cardstock: Bazzill (parakeet, brown, starmist, african daisy)
Metal Dies: Spellbinders (Suns and clouds), Joy crafts (clouds), io dies (tiny flowers)
Accents/tools: Nuvo drops (Ivory seashell), pop dots
Colors: digital stamp colored in Photoshop by my husband.

I then decided this would be the perfect card to send to a nursing home in Texas asking for cards during the quarantine.

Racoon - Happy Thoughts

The guys at work told me to take a day off since it has been a stressful month. They told me to make cards or something. Well that night I saw a post where a retirement/nursing home in Texas wanted cards sent to the residents. So I told them I made this so they all they had to sign it!! What was funny was that I didn’t bring in right away and they even asked me where the card was for the “nursing home!!” They try to be tough but they have soft hearts!!

I just changed the sign to “Sending Happy Thoughts” to make it a thinking of you from Missouri card.

Spring Time Cards

I have a customer that has an older lady friend that he is like a nephew too so I decided he needed to send her a springtime card! She loves the garden and figured she could use happy mail during the quarantine. Then I ended up making two alike so I decided my best friend, Cheryl, needed a happy mail card too so she got the Hello Sunshine.

Springtime

Cutting out a different photo journaling card I had that pink frame left over. That flower piece is another journaling card and it fit over it perfectly so I put them together. Then I saw Sketch #360 at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge and used the “springtime” cut from same paper to put the card together!

Made this with other leftovers (pink corners and Hello Sunshine tag piece). I sent this one to my Best Friend Cheryl for the Happy Mail Challenge – figured everyone could use happy mail right now!

Daisy Hello

So I found a Swap thread called Angel Swap. It’s not a normal swap because you swap names of someone that could use “happy mail/encouragement” in their mailbox (like an elderly friend/relative, or friend/relative going through rough time, someone sick, etc) . Then you get a name and make that person a card. At first I thought “well I should just be making the person a card instead of some stranger” but God prompted me to play this month. This month was a little different as we sent cards to the other “angels” instead of someone we nominated. And it was funny because I got Ro and she got me!! So this card was sent to Ro because she loves daisies! I saw this trim at Hobby Lobby and thought of her and Sketch #1 of the August Card Sketch Challenge and thought they would work well together.

I also made 2 cards for sketch #1 (August Card Sketch Challenge). This was the 2nd ideal that came to me when I saw the trim!!

Mermaid Shaker

Well I have been wanting to jump back in the Progressive Challenge at Gerda Steiner Designs but just haven’t had the time. I’m hosting the August Card Sketch Challenge at Scrapbook.com so while looking for sketches I came across this one Sketch Saturday #420. So this sketch is #5 in the August Card Sketch Challenge @ Scrapbook.com.

I thought it was perfect for the monthly image at Gerda Steiner Designs this month and couldn’t wait to put it together. I thought this image would be cute to send to my friend and then I found the saying “So glad you’re part of my world” and knew it was perfect to send to my Best Friend. I have also been wanting to make a shaker card since it was the technique challenge July Inspirational Card Challenge @ Scrapbook.com. Well the first card I made I put some of the punched circles too close to the edge so it is not a shaker card. So the next card I kept the edges clear so I could put the double sided foam tape around the edges. I have learned after making my first ever shaker card that there must be secrets to this! I ran my images through my Xyron figuring they needed to be flat. Well the beads are sticking to the edges of the images. I’m so proud that I finally used these beads….I got them when the local store closed in 2006!! But I think my best friend will still like it. Last year I sent her a card every month but this year I have slacked but I’m going to send this one just so she knows I haven’t forgot her!!
