Horsey Holidays

One of my regular customers has a grandson that loves anything cowboys, rodeo, horses, etc so I try to make him a Christmas card in one of those themes each year. Since she isn’t celebrating with them for a couple weeks I didn’t have to have the cards made till now. So this is what I came up after my husband colored (in Photoshop)  in this retired digi that is no longer available.

Horse Christmas

Inside: Wishing you a Christmas Day filled with everything that makes you smile!

Sorry about the lighting still trying to figure out my new camera!

CHALLENGES:

  1. Jan Card Challenge @ Scrapbook.com – Favorites Category – make a card using a sketch or card that you have saved to favorites. I used Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #139. It doesn’t look exact but I took the ideal of the 3 boxes placed the way they are.

SUPPLIES:

Digital Image: Horsey Holidays by Sundays with Crissy (no longer available)

Cardstock: Bazzill (Ruby Slipper, white)

Patterned Paper: Jillibean soup (Christmas Chestnut Soup)

Inks: image colored in Photoshop by my husband and then printed on Canon Inkjet Printer

Accents/Tools: Darci Embossing Folder (snowflakes)

Horse

Had a request for a birthday card for a girl that was turning 12 and loved horses and her favorite color was blue. I dug out some OLD Chatter box scraps I had and used Sweet Sunday Sketch #217 as my inspiration. I thought every cowgirl just needs a little touch of bling so put rhinestone brads in the center of the flowers I cut out from the patterned paper.

CHALLENGES:

1) Doodle Pantry Digital Challenge #49 (DPDC49) – Anything goes. But if you use a Doodle Pantry image you get a digital image for free.

2) Simply Create Too Challenge #68 – Monochromatic

3) Seize the Birthday – Anything Goes Birthday

4) Crafty Creations Challenge #270 – Dig deep use something old from your stash. The paper is old and the cartridge is old. The newest thing is the rhinestones but have had those for several months and have never used them!

SUPPLIES:

Images: Saddle Up Color @ Doodle Pantry Digital Doodles

Cardstock: Bazzill (midnight)

Patterned Paper: Chatter Box

Inks: pre-colored digital image printed on Canon inkjet printer

Accents/Tools: rhinestone brads, cricut, Elegant edges cricut cartridge

Samples for Scrapbook.com challenges

So I’m hosting 2 card challenges at Scrapbook.com this month for Karen who is going on VACATION for the WHOLE month (sooo jealous!!). She is amazing and usually has all the challenges done and post them as samples. Well, I’m not that good so I will play along with everyone else this month. But here are 3 samples I did get done so far.

Daisy Happy Birthday

I originally planned on using this beautiful bouquet daisy digital stamp from Diane’s Daydream Designs for one of the May challenges but I just couldn’t get the card to work. So I saw this sketch and tried it which I’m so glad I did because I LOVE IT!!

CHALLENGES:

1) June Card Sketch Challenge @ Scrapbook.com – Sketch # 2 – Originally came from Scrappy Sketches #35-13

2) Seize the Birthday Challenge – Make a birthday card and use the topping if you want (optional) – Tags. I chose not to do the topping unless you count the “Happy Birthday” saying as a tag.

Inside:

Happy Birthday

to a lovely young woman;

full of grace, beauty,

spirit and fire.

I made this card for a guy at church who wanted it for his Granddaughter’s 17 or 18th birthday (He wasn’t sure but it was one of those). She likes horses so I thought Carousel Horse 1 from Doodle Pantry was perfect.

CHALLENGES:

1) June Card Sketches @ Scrapbook.com – Sketch #5 – Originally from Tuesday Morning Sketches #217

2) Seize the Birthday Challenge – Make a birthday card and use the topping if you want (optional) – Tags. I chose not to do the topping.

Panda with Balloons

When I saw May Digi of the Month, It’s Not a Tie,  at Deedee’s Digi I knew that I tie wouldn’t work for my father-in-law so I got to thinking! I kept seeing the Panda holding balloons so I wrote Deedee and asked permission to remove the tie from his hand. Deedee agreed that my wonderful husband could work his magic in Adobe and take the tie away. I still wasn’t sure what it was going to look like except I wanted balloons. Well, the inspiration photo this month for the June Card Challenge @ Scrapbook.com inspired this card. The photo is a little girl in a red polka dot dress holding a bouquet of red balloons. I embossed the red paper with dots to get the feel of the red polka dot dress. I dragged out an older sketch, The deconstructed Sketch #46, for this card.

CHALLENGES:

1) June Card Challenge @ Scrapbook.com – Photo Inspiration Category – use the photo as your inspiration

2) Deedee’s Digi of the Month Challenge – Use May’s Stamp of the Month and you will get June’s Digi of the Month FREE!

I was off on Wednesday last week and it was the first time in MONTHS that I wasn’t rushed to mark things

off my To-Do List! It almost felt weird trying to figure out what I wanted to

work on at my own pace. But I managed and I’m happy with the results.

I used Charliene April Showers Digital Image from Clear Dollar Stamps.

I love having a husband that knows how work Photoshop! I asked him to put the images together

to make a “scene” and in less than 5 min I have this totally cute scene of Charliene in a puddle!

I colored her in with Tombow markers then I found the perfect paper in my Doodlebug stash (just LOVE them!).

I used sketch #46 at Deconstructing Jen for my inspiration.

You can’t tell from the photo but the raindrops and puddle are glossy to look real!
