Rainbow Inspired Cards

Another one of the guys at work gets a mother’s day card for his mom and her theme is rainbows. So I made two versions and then made it in other colors case other people liked the design.

He chose this full rainbow one for his mom!

Another customer chose the same full rainbow one for her 3 daughters!

Happy Mothers Day pink-orange1
Happy Mothers Day pink-blue1
Happy Mothers Day yellow1

I made the yellow one for another customer whose wife loves yellow and they have 9 kids so I represented that with 9 hearts and a big heart for the husband.

Here is Version 2.

Happy Mothers Day v2

I found inspiration for V1 and V2 cards on Jennifer McGuire’s blog.

Hummingbird - 4

I have a standing order for hummingbirds for Mother’s Day. I broke down and bought “Humming Along” by Stampin’ Up. So glad I did. Since I’m not a stamper or good at coloring I decided to stamp on paper that was done like watercolor! Then I used the dies to cut it out. I used the abstract image that comes in the die as the background. It took me a little bit to figure out how to do it since the gold was thin and when it went through the xyron it would be hard to put it on without it ripping. Finally glued the gold on some plain cardstock and then cut it.

Even though the sketch showed ink I did a die cut….which is more my style!

CHALLENGES:

Hippo Mother’s Day Card

Hippo Mothers Day

I have been making one of the guys at work Mother’s Day cards for his wife for the past 6 years (if not longer). He likes to have his kids represented on the card if possible. This year I found out she likes hippos so I remembered Gerda Steiner cute Hippo Stamp. It is no longer a digi stamp so I had to buy the clear stamp – Hippo with Butterfly. Now most of you know I am not a stamper and coloring is not my thing. Well I tried to color him and it looked horrible. After telling off my friends (Karen & Ro) that make stamping look easy God reminded me that wasn’t nice and to do what I’m comfortable with!! So I stamped on cardstock and paper pieced!! I love how he turned out. I found this color combo and used it for my inspiration.

I then had my husband design the saying for the shirt and I ran the shirt through the printer to print it on the shirt.

I used sketch #2 from May 2019 Card Sketch Challenge. I flipped it upside down and then added balloons coming from the original image.

SUPPLIES:
Stamp: Hippo with Butterfly @ Gerda Steiner Designs
Cardstock: Bazzill
Accents/Tools: Lawn Fawn Party Balloons, black string, EK Success 1/16 pop dots

Flamingo Mother's Day

I have to do a flamingo card for a co-workers grandmother every year. This is her 2019 Mother’s Day card. I had to use less lighting for the photo to show the 3 embossed lines on the left. Used sketch #5 from the April Card Sketch Challenge. I made the card horizontal instead of vertical. Also for the April Inspirational Card Challenge – bonus – mother’s Day.

SUPPLIES:
Digital Image: Endless Summer from Digi Web Studio (no longer available)
Cardstock: Bazzill (Flamingo, Lagoon)
Accents/Tools: Kaiserscrapbook rhinestone (island lagoon), Stampin Up (Seaside embossing folder), scor-pal

Flamingo Mothers Day

I realized I did not post any of my Mother’s Day cards for 2018. This was the grandmother’s 2018 Mother’s Day Card. I cut an extra flower spray and pop dotted it on top of the flamingo for dimension.

Digital Image: Aloha Floral @ https://www.etsy.com/shop/YenzArtHaut

Cardstock: Bazzill (Berry Sensation, White), American Crafts (butterscotch)

Accents/Tools: 1/16 EK Success pop dots, Martha Stewart Edge punch

Mothers Day Style

Inside: When I grow up, I hope to have style as cool as you!

One of the guys at work learned (the hard way on his wife’s 1st Mother’s Day after they adopted their baby girl) that he is suppose to get a card for his wife from their daughter. So he asked if I could make one that was centered around their girl and that they both like clothes and shopping. He also said his daughter loves the color purple so this is what I came up with.
