16th Birthday Bulldog

Bulldog 16th Birthday.JPG

In last post I showed the card for the girl so this post is the card I did for the 16 yoa boy who also owns an English Bulldog.

Not finding anything on the internet that would work I put in a request for a bulldog birthday image from my husband. He created this in Photoshop and I think it turned out pretty darn cute! I used Try Stampin’ On Tuesday Sketch #309 as my inspiration. Instead of three images on the left I went with a present and balloons tied to the present. Instead of a sentiment I placed the bulldog there. The embossed background has the sentiment in it “Happy Birthday!”

1) Try Stampin’ on Tuesday Sketch #309 – use the sketch provided to inspire a card.

2) Crafting by Designs – Polka Dot challenge – I used polka dots in 2 of the balloons!

Yorkie Birthday Box

I got a request to make a birthday card for a groomer. Last year I needed a Yorkie birthday card so I went looking through the internet. I found a cute Yorkie in a cup at Cute As A Button Designs but there was Holly on the cup for Christmas. So I wrote the designer for permission to have my husband take the Holly off so I could use it for a Birthday Card. She said better yet I’ll draw you a Birthday Yorkie!! Such a sweet artist. So I made the card (realized I forgot to post it so will do that shortly) for a lady in her 70’s and she loved it. So I decided to use that image again for the groomer. It is amazing how cards have different feel to it depending on the paper and design that is used. I went for a more vibrant feel on this card….it just happened because when I saw that balloon paper I thought it was cute with the image! I used sketch #5 from the Jan Card Sketch Challenge @ scrapbook.com. This is also for the Jan Inspirational Card Challenge @ scrapbook.com – Bonus – I need birthday cards to replenish my stock so I made 3 more of these to do just that!

I realized making a card this year with this image that I forgot to post this card last year when I made it April 2016. I needed a birthday card for a lady in her 70’s that liked Yorkies. I went searching the internet and found a cute Yorkie in a cup at Cute as a Button Designs. But the cup had Holly in it as it was a Christmas Image. I wrote the designer for permission to remove the Holly so I could make it a birthday card. She said she would make me a Birthday Yorkie and this is what she came up with!! Adorable!! So my husband colored in the dog and inside of the box and I paper pieced the rest.

I can’t remember the sketch but if I find it I will update it.

Deedee’s Digis are sponsoring Robyn’s Fetish Challenge #252 and their theme this week is…Birthday card for a teenage girl! Which was perfect for me because my niece turns 13 today!! So this is the birthday card I sent her.

Lots of Thoughts Digital Stamp just reminded of teenagers texting so I went with that. I also liked the color scheme as it seemed very “teenage/80’s” to me. Which the 80’s has come back and is very popular again!! I used Feeling Sketchy Card Sketch #114 as my inspiration.
Hope you will be inspired to make a teenage girl birthday card so you can come play at Robyn’s Fetish for a chance to win a $15.00 gift code to Deedee’s Digis!

Cardstock: Bazzill
Patterned Paper: digital paper included in Wish Big Digital Stamp. I recolored it in Photoshop

Have a Flappy Christmas!

Flappy Christmas

I have been so busy with making cards for my Christmas orders that I didn’t even have time to post. I was thankful when I finished my last card last week but then I chilled for a couple days before getting my niece for a couple days so today is the first day I had time to sent down in front of the computer.

This card was made for the 52 {Christmas} Card throwdown challenge that ended on Dec 19th. But now I’m using it to tell you all of the sad news that Deedee’s Digis is closing shop Jan 31st. The new VAT tax law that goes into effect on Jan 1st is putting a lot of small digital companies out of business. The law was intended for big stores that sell games and digi downloads but they did make any exceptions for the little artist selling stamps for fun. If you haven’t heard about this read up on it…it is horrible for the small business. They would have to hire an accountant just to deal with sells to VAT countries…not feasible when you sell a digi stamp for $3.  So if you live in a VAT country and want ANY digi stamps you need to get out there and buy them before Dec 31st. There are several digi companies that will not be able to sell to VAT countries after Dec 31st even though they are keeping their doors open.

Deedee’s Digis is having a 75% off Store Closing Sale…check it out. Everything is under a $1.00. You can get a lot of cute digis for a little money right now.

I used Sketch -N- Scrap Card Sketch #39 for my inspiration. The sentiment inside says “Wishing you a Flappy Christmas”. My husband came up with “Wishing you a Flappy Holiday” but by the time I got to my computer I had accidentally switched it to Christmas.

Gifts of the Season

A co-worker has a brown lab and that is his and his wife’s “child”. So he likes to give her Christmas cards and Mother’s Day cards from him and the pup so I have a standing order. So I was smiling from ear to ear when Deedee’s Digis released Puppy’s Christmas.  Then when I saw the sketch at Outlawz Challenge I knew it would be perfect!

Inside of Co-workers card for his wife – “because I got everything I ever wanted in you”

Gift in a Box

Gift in a Box Card

I made this for my husband yesterday because it was his birthday. I had been trying to figure out what I was going to make because I like it to be personal and made especially for him. As I went to bed Friday night this ideal popped in my head. My friend helped me tweak the sentiment so it sounded right.

I used a present image from a Christmas digi stamp, Wrapped in Cheer Outlines, at Diane’s Daydream Designs. The colors I picked to use are for my husband as he likes darker shades with black being his favorite. The green on the bow didn’t turn out as dark as I wanted but didn’t notice till I was sticking it on the card so I left it.

Oh my Gooseness!

Gooseness Birthday

So I am the worst about getting birthday’s right! My bestest girlfriend turned 40 on November 13th and I kept telling myself to NOT forget her birthday and get her a card in the mail. WELL, somehow I got in my head that her birthday was Nov 22nd so when I finally checked my book I HAD MISSED IT!! OH MY GOOSENESS!! The only good thing is she was in Hawaii with her husband celebrating her birthday so when she got back I emailed her to tell her what a bone head I was. Said all of that to say I was so happy when Laurie released this stamp this month because the saying was perfect for my boneheadness!! (there is a new word!)  I am really pleased how this all came together!

Part 2 of the Calendar Challenge

The first 3 weeks of the challenge is done and so far I have kept up! Just barely but I managed. Now it is time for Part 2 of the challenge where you have another 3 weeks to make 3 calendar pages!! Even if you didn’t get the first 3 done jump right in and you will be closer to having a Calendar done which is the perfect Christmas Gift.

For my inspiration I used Sketch #36 from Sketch -N- Scrap. What is so awesome about this site is that it has BOTH card and scrapbook sketches. The best of both worlds all in one place!!
We don’t do a lot for St. Patrick’s Day so didn’t want to use that for March. But since we have a couple birthdays I thought that would be a good theme for March. I love how you can customize the calendar to fit what you do each month!
My days were not cooperating so I will put them on later when I have more time.
I hope you will come play in the Calendar Challenge at Clearly iStamp Blog.
1) Simply Create Too Challenge #42 – Anything but a card.
