Sending Prayers

Yes!! That is a stamped sentiment!! I love seeing all the stamped cards but it seriously is hard for me so I would much rather run it through my printer! But I had bought these stamps awhile back and thought it worked perfectly with this sketch and butterfly.

3 Wise Men and sketch

Wise Men

Dec 1st Deedee’s Digis sponsored Feeling Sketchy Challenge #134 which was this sketch:

FeelingSketchy134

I wanted to make a sample and play along so I started looking through Deedee’s Digis Christmas images because I need one more religious card for this year. When I saw the Wise Men Digital Image I thought it could work with this sketch. In my mind the words would take the place of the other stars. I had just bought a new size of envelope for money cards but thought the size would work for this too…the size of the card is 3 1/2 x 7 1/4.  I never got the card done in time for the challenge but I did get it done in time for some orders I had! I was very thankful because the 3rd customer saw an error I had in my scripture so I only had to fix 5 cards…very thankful!

CHALLENGES:

Our true gift at Christmas time

Jesus is Gift - red

Jesus is Gift - Blue

I needed two more religious cards this season and had an ideal to use 3 wise men image for one but I wasn’t sure on the 2nd one. So I went looking through my digital stamps and came across this one by Diane’s Daydream Design (store closed in 2014). Then I remembered an awesome sketch posted in the December Card Sketch challenge on scrapbook.com. Then I remembered the color combo from last month on the Nov Card Challenge that I didn’t get to so I decided to use it on this card. So with those 3 elements in mind I went to work and this is what I came up with!! A little modern but the focus is still on Jesus…our true gift at Christmas. I made a red background version and then also made a teal background version.

The paper used for the circles is actually a digital paper (also discontinued at Diane’s Daydream Designs) I printed on Bazzill white. Then I just used circle punches and went to town. So I will also enter into the Dec Card Challenge – product category – use something digital.

Patterned Paper: Elegant Snowflakes (Diane’s Daydream Designs – no longer in business)

Anything Goes with a Birthday card and Easter card

Penny’s Paper-Crafty Challenge this week is Anything Goes. So I first made the birthday card for a friends brother in-law and decided it fit my father-in-law so I made him one too!

Great Outdoors Birthday

Then I decided to make a card for the Word Art Wednesday Challenge so I will share it at Penny’s Paper-Crafty Challenge also.

TheLordLiveth

There is free Word Art of this scripture on the blog but it didn’t fit the space I had since it was more of horizontal sentiment. So I tried to mimic what she did and made it vertical. When I saw this scripture it made me think of this digital image by Deedee’s Digis so that is why I went with it.

CHALLENGES:
1) Word Art Wednesday – uplifting project

2) Penny’s Paper-Crafty Challenge #221 – Anything Goes

3) 4 Crafty Chicks Challenge #240 – Easter

4) April Card Challenge @ Scrapbook.com – Favorites – used a sketch from last month (Mojo Monday Sketch #361)

SUPPLIES:

Fishing Birthday Card

Cardstock: Bazzill

Patterned Paper:

Inks: pre-colored digital image printed on Canon Inkjet Printer

Encouraging Friends

Sorry I’m behind in my posting! I did this one on Wednesday for the Word Art Wednesday Challenge #172 – Anything Goes as long as it’s family-friendly, and uses an encouraging or uplifting sentiment. They offer a free word art scripture that you can use if you want but you don’t have to. I used it on my card and paired it with Helpful Hearts Digital Image from Deedee’s Digis.

I made this card for a friend of mine that is going through some tough times. I wanted her to know I’m here for her. I also wanted her to know that God loves her and even in her toughest times she is still one of God’s disciples doing his work. She might not know it but the love she is showing during this time can be used by God. I wanted to remind her so she doesn’t get discouraged. Life is tough but just keep going with God along side of you and his love will prevail.

This card was designed around us…I like orange and she likes red. We are also not into floral prints so I went with stripes and polka dots. So this card is very personal and I think she will recognize that as soon as she sees it.  I was inspired by card sketch #115 at Feeling Sketchy.

SUPPLIES:

Digital Image: Helpful Hearts Digital Image @ Deedee’s Digis

Cardstock: Bazzill (Crabapple Dark, Bubblegum)

Patterned Paper: KI Memories (very very old…scrap piece!)

Inks: pre-colored digital image printed on Canon Inkjet Printer. Also paper pieced

Accent/Tools: Cutter bee scissors, pop dots

Techniques: paper pieced

Cards for friends

One of the couples in them marriage group is going to move so the wife can go to Christian college for a year and then one of the ladies is having a hysterectomy on Tuesday so we wanted to make them cards.

We weren’t sure what to do with the hysterectomy card but she is a HUGE Dr. Who fan so in joking around my husband and I mixed Dr. Who and Dr. Seuss together and came up with this card. My husband drew/designed everything so all I did was cut it out and glue it onto a card base.

Dr Whoterus

Inside: After the surgery, we hope you have plenty of time to… Recuperate!

CHALLENGE:

1) Use Your Stuff Challenge #148 – Inspired by Dr. Seuss. I hope this counts since it isn’t something actually from Dr. Seuss but is totally inspired by Dr. Seuss.

SUPPLIES:

Images: designed by my husband

Cardstock: Bazzill (pinata), orange scraps

New chapter

Inside:

We’re excited to see the chapters
God’s going to write for your life.

We wanted to do a book theme since this will be a new chapter in their life. This is an older digi by True 😀 at True’s Gift’s from the Heart that is no longer available.

CHALLENGES:

1) Crafts 4 Eternity Challenge #189 – Something Old. That fiber is probably 10 years old. The digital stamp is about 2 years old and the brads I got prior to 2006. The patterned paper is the newest thing and I think it is almost a year old.

2) Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 Sketch #24 – I really liked this sketch and love the sponsor this week, Doodle Pantry. I didn’t use of their images but still used the sketch.

3) Word Art Wednesday Challenge #145 – Anything Goes that is uplifting

Just some cards

Here are a couple cards I got done this weekend.

Easter Blessings

This was another card offered at Card Class this weekend. When I saw this image, Christ is Risen, at Daydream Designs by Diane I “ohhh” out loud. It is beautiful drawn and colored that I just had to use it when several of the ladies asked for a religious Easter card. And the inside I combine two of the sentiments in the set:

Death could not CHAIN HIM

A tomb could not HOLD HIM

The enemy could not DEFEAT HIM

Christ is Risen!

CHALLENGES:

1) April Card Challenge @ Scrapbook.com – Sketch Category – Merry Monday Sketch #68 was our inspiration. It worked perfectly for this card!!

2) Sweet Stamps Blog Challenge #164 – Easter

His Name Is with cross

*The white background is NOT part of the card….just put it down to get a decent picture on a glass table.

I know you have seen 2 other cards with this image, His Name Is, but I can’t help it because friends keep requesting it! I made this one for a lady who saw the last two and wanted one with a cross instead of flowers. I had to make this card quickly and during Card Class so I’m surprised it came out so good! She said she liked the Spring version but without flowers so I tried to do that one and modify it. It wasn’t working for me and she didn’t seem thrilled either so back to the sketch folder. She liked the tilted look of first card I did in rainbow colors. So I found Mojo Monday sketch #340 and went to work.  I flipped the sketch on its side. Then for the ribbon on the right I used a piece of embossed paper and put it under the image instead of on top of it. Then where they had the banner/circles I put the cross there instead.  I used a wooden cross from Hobby Lobby and covered it with paper. It needed something more so I cut out the purple piece from the Christ is Risen Digital Image at Diane’s Daydream Designs and added it to this cross.

CHALLENGES:

1) Mojo Monday Sketch #340 (MOJO340) – Use the sketch provided as inspiration.

Lighthouse Birthday

Let me tell you how blown away I was on the coloring of this image!! This set use to be a Clearly Digi Stamp (went out of business) and so I had it. But when I saw how beautifully Laurie re-did the coloring for Doodle Pantry I had to buy this set! I cut out the blue sky area that was behind the light house because it didn’t fit right in the oval. I used an older sketch, #249,  from Unscripted Sketches….I just flipped it on its side. I roughed up the edges of the card with a distresser.

CHALLENGES:

1) Doodle Pantry Digital Challenge #45 – Anything Goes….BUT if you use a DOODLE PANTRY image you will get the featured digital image FREE! I used Sheltering Lights Digital Image for a masculine birthday card that a friend needed for her brother-in-law’s birthday.

2) April Card Challenge @ Scrapbook.com – Technique Category – paper piercing. I pierced around the frame.
