Masculine Plaid Cards

Grandpa Gold in his heart

A lady requested this quote for her grandpa’s birthday. It was a good thing that my local scrapbook store found some very old BasicGrey papers in their storage room. They had one sheet of this so I picked it up along with some others. Good thing I did because it was perfect for this saying….at least I thought so!
I used Freshly Made Sketches 276 as my inspiration.

In April I made a “DAD” card for my FIL’s birthday.  (which I apparently forgot to post!)
Dad Birthday
I showed it to a lady and she said she wanted one for her dad’s birthday. Well I didn’t have the same paper so this is what I came up with…

Stars - Dad

I put the dad on the bottom right corner this time so I moved the stars up to the left corner. She loved it!

Sending Prayers

Sending Prayers

Yes!! That is a stamped sentiment!! I love seeing all the stamped cards but it seriously is hard for me so I would much rather run it through my printer! But I had bought these stamps awhile back and thought it worked perfectly with this sketch and butterfly.
Simple card but sometimes simple works.

Poinsettia Christmas

So there are two ladies at the retirement home that like special cards made for their kids (one has son and family and one has daughter and family). One of the ladies I’m super close to and she loves Poinsettia’s so I always make her sons card with a poinsettia. This year while looking through my Christmas paper and thinking of current sketches I saw this journaling card in the paper pack and thought it might work for sketch #3 of the Dec Card Sketch Challenge. This is what I came up with. I cut the poinsettia from the Wrap It Up Cricut Cartridge.

1) December Card Sketch Challenge – sketch #3 – original sketch – retrosketches #241
2) December Inspirational Card Challenge – theme – Christmas/Winter

Cardstock: Bazzill (French Vanilla, Cranapple dark, Rain Forest)
Patterned Paper: Simple Stories (Handmade Holiday Paper Pad)
Accents/Tools: Sizzix framlits dotted rectangles, EK Success 1/16 pop dots

I decided since I made the lady’s son a card that I would make her one too since she loves poinsettia’s so much and she is “one of my ladies” from the retirement home! I also made one for a co-worker to give his step-mom for Christmas.
I used the same paper pad that was used for her son’s card but a different design. I made the poinsettia a little smaller and doubled up the green on the bottom.

December Inspirational Card Challenge @ – Favorites Category – I got the ideal from this card.

Cardstock: Bazzill (Cranapple dark, Rain Forest)
Patterned Paper: Simple Stories (Handmade Holiday Paper Pad)
Accents/Tools: EK Success 1/16 pop dots, Xyron X, Fiskars scallop edge punch, Cricut, Wrap It Up Cricut Cartridge,

This was for a lady at work’s daughter. She wanted it to be music themed and this is what I came up with. I decided to go with another poinsettia and then I will use this design to make one for my friend next year! I used Cas(e) this sketch #93 as my inspiration.

Yo Ho Ho Happy Halloween

Deedee’s Digis is sponsoring the Clear it Out Challenge which is Halloween (or use Black and Orange). I went with the Halloween theme but in the end used black and orange only so I did both without even trying! This card is for one of the guys at work to give his mom as they are big Basset Hound lovers so I was super excited when I saw this image.

Yo Ho Ho

In my stash I found the dog bone paper clip and chest charm which I thought was perfect. The paper is also YEARS old so the only thing new and modern on this card is the image! I used Tuesday Morning Sketches #271 as my inspiration.

1) October Card Challenge @ – Favorites Category – used Tuesday Morning Sketches #271
