Mother strength and dignity

I made this for a guy at work for his mother. She just happens to be a customer of mine so I love making cards for her. One of her favorite flowers is the purple Iris so that is what I used. Wise Men

Dec 1st Deedee’s Digis sponsored Feeling Sketchy Challenge #134 which was this sketch:

FeelingSketchy134

I wanted to make a sample and play along so I started looking through Deedee’s Digis Christmas images because I need one more religious card for this year. When I saw the Wise Men Digital Image I thought it could work with this sketch. In my mind the words would take the place of the other stars. I had just bought a new size of envelope for money cards but thought the size would work for this too…the size of the card is 3 1/2 x 7 1/4.  I never got the card done in time for the challenge but I did get it done in time for some orders I had! I was very thankful because the 3rd customer saw an error I had in my scripture so I only had to fix 5 cards…very thankful!

Sorry I’m behind in my posting! I did this one on Wednesday for the Word Art Wednesday Challenge #172 – Anything Goes as long as it’s family-friendly, and uses an encouraging or uplifting sentiment. They offer a free word art scripture that you can use if you want but you don’t have to. I used it on my card and paired it with Helpful Hearts Digital Image from Deedee’s Digis.

I made this card for a friend of mine that is going through some tough times. I wanted her to know I’m here for her. I also wanted her to know that God loves her and even in her toughest times she is still one of God’s disciples doing his work. She might not know it but the love she is showing during this time can be used by God. I wanted to remind her so she doesn’t get discouraged. Life is tough but just keep going with God along side of you and his love will prevail.

This card was designed around us…I like orange and she likes red. We are also not into floral prints so I went with stripes and polka dots. So this card is very personal and I think she will recognize that as soon as she sees it.  I was inspired by card sketch #115 at Feeling Sketchy.

The Glory of Christmas

Diane’s Daydream Designs is sponsoring Penny’s Paper-Crafty Challenge this week and the challenge is Use Black Cardstock. This card took some work even though it is a Clean & Simple (CAS) card. Funny how the more simple cards take the most work. What I had in mind did not work out so I flipped the paper over to this word print design. Which I thought would be too busy but I ended up liking it! I kept trying to stick a star on here but my best friend would not give in and kept telling me NO (in a nice way). Then I asked my husband and he agreed with her so no star! I think it is simple and to the point…Christmas is about Christ the Lord!

I’m sure you have black cardstock lying around so come play with us!

CHALLENGES:

1) Crafty Hazelnut’s Christmas Challenge #202 – Keep it flat. I put enamel dots on there but they aren’t as thick as a brad so I think it will mail with no extra postage.

2) Christmas Card Challenge #50 – Faith based.

3) Christmas Stampin’ All Year Long Challenge #36 (CSAYL) – Anything Goes

4) Crimbo Crackers Challenge #69 – Clean & Simple (CAS)

5) My Perfect Life – Festive 48 Challenge – Week 44 – make one Christmas card a week all year long!

SUPPLIES:

Cardstock: Bazzill

Patterned Paper: MME (Christmas 6 x 6 paper pad)

Inks: pre-colored digi printed on Canon Inkjet Printer

I love playing at Word Art Wednesday but it seems I don’t ever have a lot of time to. But today I got to play. This scripture is on there for free but I ended up buying the whole set (Peace and Rest Scripture) from Diane’s Daydream Designs.

I used all scraps except for the base card. The colors were inspired by the colors in the word art.

CHALLENGES:

1) Word Art Wednesday Challenge #122 – Anything Goes – John 14:27 featured word art

2) MOJO Monday #336 – use the sketch provided as inspiration. I had to turn my flower as it wouldn’t fit on the right.

SUPPLIES:

Digital Image: Peace and Rest Scripture @ Diane’s Daydream Designs

Cardstock: Bazzill (white, Blue Oasis, Whirlpool)

Inks: pre-colored sentiment printed on Canon Inkjet Printer

Accent/Tools: Michael’s $1 flower, black gems, EK Success PSN LE Lattice Chain punch, Cricut, Cricut Basic George Cartridge

Bird - Trust in the Lord

God is amazing. Here I was sick the past two days unable to craft projects that are now due. So I start panicking about how I’m going to get them done….so my solution is combine things…DT project with a get well card for a lady at church and so on. Well, should I work on this one or that one….which ones should be combined….can I work in some challenges. The devil loves to put those thoughts in my head because then I become overwhelmed and I have no creativity. Then I panic and go into “self” mode….ways to get it done in MY own power instead of relying on God.  So I finally decided on the bird image and this verse. This card wasn’t for someone in particular at this moment but knew it would be good to have on hand especially for the Card Ministry at Church. I read several scriptures from Clearly Digi Stamps (she is a Christian company and has lots to chose from) but God said “use this one”. So I printed it off and got to work.

It wasn’t till I was almost done and re-read it that it hit me this was PERFECT for a challenge I wanted to play in but didn’t think I had time to….because I can’t play for fun when I have DT projects due. So then I was in a dilemma again….do I play in the challenge at Word Art Wednesday or do I save it for my DT project? God told me to play and trust him….he has something else in mind for the DT project.  This card was made so I would TRUST in his plan that he has for me and STOP trying to do it MY WAY and IN MY OWN power. The funny thing is the verse is about TRUST and so is the challenge at Word Art Wednesday. Don’t you just love how God will meet us where we are at and get through to us even if it is in a crafty way….card making.

So this card is for the challenge but most importantly it is a reminder for me to TRUST in him for everything…even design team projects!

Come back Wednesday to see what God wanted me to make for the challenge at For Fun Challenge.
