Cardinals Baseball Birthday Card

Cardinal Baseball Birthday

Oh my it has been forever since I posted on here. Actually haven’t made a ton of cards this year….personal life went crazy and had no free time. But trying to get into a new routine that includes crafting time! So welcome back!

I needed a Cardinal Baseball themed birthday card. I found the image on the internet and used sketch #1 from the Feb Card Sketch Challenge at Scrapbook.com as my inspiration. I also used KatieJo’s version of the sketch…I like how she had little hearts in the background so I used circles to look like confetti….well that was my plan anyways!

Cardstock: Bazzill (Admiral, Bazzill Red, White)

Slam Dunk Thank You

Slam Dunk Thank You

Inside: Thank You!

Last month at work we were raising money for Big Brothers Big Sister. The local Police Dept (SPD) and the local Sheriff Dept (GCSD) play a basketball game every year where all the money raised goes to Big Brothers Big Sisters. Well my boss started talk crud that he could out sell me on tickets/donations to Big Brother Big Sister. So I told him it was on like Donkey Kong!! I sent an email to my family and friends and in less than 2 weeks they raised $550.00!!! Yay for family and friends!! As my SIL would say “we crushed him!” as my boss only raised $240.00. But we accomplished the main goal and that was we beat the Sheriff’s dept in raising the most money! So to thank my family and friends I made 19 of these cards to send out!

I did black and blue to represent that the local Police Dept (SPD) won!! The image is a free clip art I found on the internet. I used sketch #4 of the April Card Sketch Challenge.

This card is made for an angel swap I’m in. This is a different type of swap. Basically everyone puts in a name of someone that could use happy/encouragement mail in their mailbox. Then you are randomly given a name to send a card to.
The person requested the card to go to a man to offer him support of parenthood and let him know he rocks as a father. I asked a couple follow up questions and found out he plays basketball with his son every weekend.
So I started praying to find out what kind of card God wanted him to get. I looked at quotes and found 2 that I felt led to use. I was going to make two different cards but ended up with the holy spirit prompting me to use the 2nd one inside:
“There will be so many times
you feel like you’ve failed.
But in the eyes, heart, and mind
of your child you ARE Super Dad.
You are their world.
And you are doing a fabulous job.”
– Stephanie Precourt

A little background on the inside quote. The original quote says Mom. But I really felt it is what I needed to send. So I wrote Stephanie and asked her if it had every been changed and would she mind if I changed Mom to Dad. She said she doesn’t think it has been changed but can totally see how it pertains to both parents so she gave me permission to change it!

I used MOJO Monday #420 sketch for my inspiration.

Lady Golf Bag

Golfbag female

I had an order for a birthday card for a 60ish lady that loves to play golf. She also like primary/bold colors. While searching for images and inspiration I saw a card that used the Wrap it Up cricut cartridge. So I went looking through my cartridges and I had it!! And it has this golf club set in it!! It had swirls on the top layer so I left that off. I used MOJO Bella Sketch #14 for my inspiration…I know the circle with the #14 could be part of the sketch but doesn’t have to be but I liked it as it was a perfect spot for the golf ball!

Baseball baby cards

There seems to be a lot of people having babies so I have several request for baby cards.

A lady asked for a “Congratulations on becoming a Grandma” card that was to have a baseball/cardinal theme. But has now turned into more of a birthday card for grandma. I have sent her the 3 cards but not sure email is cooperating so I’m going to post them here so she can see them and pick which one she likes best. Then we will work out the wording.

Wednesday Rewind Challenge #8

If you have not checked out this challenge it is a MUST! I love her cards and love sketch challenges so this was a win/win for me!

She will post a card she has done in the past and then she does a new version of it and so do we!

This month the card stumped me as I’m not a big ribbon user the way it was used on this card. But I was determined to play. So glad I did cause it made me think outside the “card” and I really like how this came out.

Go here to see the card that I “lifted”.

Here is my version:

Can you see the sketch but see how I made it mine! I love it!! Thank you Tarynne for the inspiration!

CHALLENGES:

1) Made Fresh Daily Wednesday Rewind Challenge #8 (MFDWR8) –  On the 5th of every month I will post a card that I made from a couple months ago up to a couple years and I will lift the card. How do you play? Lift the card also! You can turn it, add to it, take away from it, as long as I can still see the original sketch in your card!

2) Alphabet Challenge Blog – M for Men Only. We would like to see projects for Men or with Men on them please.

3) Card Crafter’s Circle Challenge #33 – CAS – Our challenge theme for you this week is to be uncluttered, uncomplicated, but bold and fresh…. we want you to create in the style of  CAS – Clean and Simple

4) Critter Sketch Challenge #126 – Anything Goes!
5) Paper Playtime Challenge #80 – Anything Goes!
6) Pause Dream Enjoy Challenges #30 – Do you play SPORTS? Do you have a favorite HOBBY? Create any type of project featuring your favorite SPORT or HOBBY.
