Beach Girl

PROMO Beach Blanket Girl

Sometimes being a practical person doesn’t allow work with card making! It is hard for me to make a card unless I see a “purpose” for it so when I saw the beach image this month as the Digi of the Month set I wasn’t sure what I would make with it. After tossing around several ideals I decided I like this even though I don’t know what I’m using it for yet…so the inside is blank. I used Sweet Sunday Sketch #234 as my inspiration. I printed a second image and cut the girl out so she is pop dotted in the scene.

CHALLENGES:

  1. Imagine That…digis by Kris – Digi of the Month Challenge – make a project using the image provided.
  2. August Card Challenge @ Scrapbook.com – favorites category – lifted the saved sketch from Sweet Sunday Sketch.

Float to your Happy Place

HappyPlace

Oh I would love to be somewhere tropical or anywhere with water really (I’d even take a lazy river or pool!)….then I would be in my happy place! I realized that today is my really only day off till the end of the month since I’m getting my niece on Monday-Tuesday. So I decided I better get my Progressive challenges done. Which will shock them because I’m usually posting with only hours to spare! I decided to paper piece this image since my husband has been busy with work I didn’t want to ask him to color it. Took longer but I love it. I might ask him to color it in these colors when he has time so I can make more with my left over paper. Too hard to make more than one when you paper piece! I love how this turned out. It came together pretty easy since I found the perfect sketch at Mojo Monday and then found the color scheme at Colour Q.

Water You up to

When I saw this image and saying last month I knew it would be perfect to send to my friend this summer. I have kept up pretty good sending her a card a month…been late a few months…but still going strong. So I figured this would be perfect for July or August and it’s just so cute with that saying! It fit in perfectly for the “Beach” challenge at Outlawz CAS Challenge. Now CAS is not my choice of style for card making but I do like how this one came out.

I bought this embossing folder a couple months ago knowing it would come in handy…just looks like water or space ship to me! So I was so excited when I looked in my embossing folders and saw it! It’s perfect…at least I think so. I also used an EK Success border punch that also reminding me of bubbles in water. Paired that with a Clean & Simple Stamping Sketch from 01/14/2011 and this was the result.

CHALLENGES:

1) July Card Challenge @ Scrapbook.com – Favorites – lift a card or sketch that is in your favorites

2) Crafter’s Cafe Challenge #123 – Summertime Fun

A Sweet Day….just in time!

Made it just in time with 5 HOURS to spare but here is my Digi of the Month creation over at Imagine That…digis by Kris.

Sweet Day

Even though I am usually one of the last to enter it wasn’t totally my fault this month!! 🙂 My computer died in the middle of the month. Then last week when I was trying to get stuff ready to go to the annual scrapbook retreat my printer started dying and wouldn’t print correctly. Apparently I print too much and wore down the print head! So hooked up my new printer last night just in time to get this challenge done.

I went pretty CAS on this card which is not my comfort zone but I like the design from SHEL9999 card at Scrapbook.com that is the “Lift card” for the July Card Challenge @ Scrapbook.com.

The patterned paper was from my scrap drawer and I can’t remember whose it is…but I’m thinking it was from Hobby Lobby but I’m not positive.

CHALLENGES:

1) Imagine That…digis by Kris – Digi of the Month Challenge – use the image provided and next month’s image will be emailed to you FREE!!

SUPPLIES:

Digital Image: Ice Cream Parlour – Imagine That…digis by Kris!

Hopping along with House of Cards!

It is the end of the third term over at House of Cards so they are having a “goodbye” and “welcome” new team members Blog Hop till the 15th with a bunch of prizes. Someone somewhere during the hop will win a $25.00 gift code to Deedee’s Digis just for playing along. How it work is you go to the blog (click here) and visit each team member that is listed in the post. Then make a card based on the following inspirational photo and link it up to the challenge.

Thank You So Much

This card took on a life of it’s own when I ended up combining 3 main challenges. So I looked at the inspirational photo and the flower in the frame keep drawing my attention so I decided to go with that. I found the flower in the Stitchy Fall set that I thought would work perfectly. In trying to figure out what color scheme I wanted to go with I saw the color challenge at ColouQ and started going that direction (I missed the deadline but that’s okay still got a cute card from it!) Then I remembered seeing a sketch at Feeling Sketchy that had a square with circles and thought that would go with how the flower looked in the photo above. So this is what I came up with when I mixed all that together. The only thing I think might have looked better is I mounted this on a black card base instead of just leaving it the blue but I still like it!

Flip Flop Birthday Card and Happy Anniversary

Flip Flop Birthday Card

All the ladies I work with are very supportive of my hobby and will even buy my cards! One of the ladies asked me to make a birthday card for her granddaughter that was turning 5. I asked her what her granddaughter liked and without hesitation she said, “flip flops”. Grandma is even making a flip flops cake….now that is talent! So I searched the internet and found an image I thought I could cut out and build my own flip flops! Oh and the birthday girl likes pink so that is why it is a main color! I had to put 5 flowers on each shoe and gems since she is a girly girl too!  The flower/splash chipboard behind the #5 was a happy accident. I tried circles and tags and nothing looked right. So I went to my pile of a million chipboard pieces I got for $5 at M’s and there it was the perfect shade of blue water splash/flower! It had cream lines on it so I took my white Signo pen (that I love) and changed the doodles to white. It was the perfect touch! Inside says: Happy Birthday!
