I have a standing order for one of the guys at work to make his wife sunflower cards for her birthday, valentines and Mother’s Day. This is her birthday card this year.
My inspiration came from this card came from Lynn’s Locker
Challenge: October Inspirational Card Challenge – Favorites – Recreate a card or sketch you’ve saved in your favorites either on this site, a blog, or Pinterest.
SUPPLIES: Cardstock: Bazzill (Mexican Poppy, Java, pinecone) Patterned Paper: Doodlebug (Kraft in color), The Paper Studio (white shiplap) Metal Dies: Gina Marie Designs (wreath), Cottage Cutz (sunflowers), Sizzix Tim Holtz (Tags) Accents/Tools: Doodlebug Sprinkles(birthday boy)
I have been making some of the guys at work cards for their mom’s and wives for several years. This is one of my longest customers and every Mother’s Day he gets a card for his grandma (flamingos), Mom (cactus, old west), wife (sunflowers) and step-mom (garden, flowers, old trucks). So this is this years cards….
I original made this one for a guy who wanted a “bright happy sunflower” card to encourage someone. Sunflowers usually have darker colors to it because of the darker yellow Sunflowers are. But he wanted a brighter yellow so this is what I came up with. Hope he likes it! I used Sketch~N~Scrap World Card Making Day 2019 sketch #4 as my inspiration. I found a color scheme on the internet and then modified it a little.
SUPPLIES: Cardstock: Bazzill (Blue Oases, Atlantic, African Daisy, Hillary), AC Cardstock (Taffy) Metal Dies: Spellbinders (Create a Sunflower) Accents/Tools: Darice Embossing Folder (wire fence), Doodlebug Sprinkles (Birthday girl)
So I had bought some sunflower stickers and made this version for the wife that loves sunflowers! (I have been making her cards since she was the girlfriend!)
This card was inspired by one of Karen’s (TexasMomOf4) cards that we are lifting as part of the May 2020 Inspirational Card Challenge.
This is not showing up very well in the photograph on here. I promise it looks way better in real life. It is a different style for me but I think I like it. When I started putting the plants on the popped up piece I had to hang them off to make them fit. I liked the look and realized Karen’s had a little hanging off too. Thanks Karen for the inspiration!
P.S. – the background is paper that comes in the paper pack.
SUPPLIES:
His grandma gets a flamingo Mother’s Day and Christmas card every year. So this is paper from the same line I made her card in 2014. I used Atlantic Hearts Sketch #361 as my inspiration.
This was for his step-mom and was also one of my popular Mother’s Day cards this year. The flower was cut from a patterned paper in a paper pad. The patterned paper also came from the same paper pad. Added some cardstock, twine and cute sketch and the card was done! I used the Sketch~n~Scrap Sketch #165 for my inspiration.
May 2020 Inspirational Card Challenge – Theme – card for Female. May Happy Mail Card Challenge – I sent this one to my Godmother.

So I have been making one of the guys at work cards for his girlfriends birthday since they started dating…4-5 years ago. She loves sunflowers so that is what every birthday card has been. Well they got married this summer so now I make his wife birthday cards! So this is her first birthday card as “wife!” I used a FREE IMAGE from Beccy’s Blog called Bucket of Blossoms.
CHALLENGES:
Beccy’s Place October Challenge – Create a card or paper-craft project using any Beccy’s Place image, upload a photo of it to your blog and submit a direct link to her challenge.
So one of the guys I work with is getting married tomorrow. So I made a card for all of us at work to sign. He said they really didn’t have wedding colors but was decorating in sunflowers and country feel. So this is what I came up with!! Found the sunflower stickers at Hobby Lobby and they were on sale that week!!
CHALLENGES:
1) September Card Sketch Challenge @ Scrapbook.com – sketch #5. Original is from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #157.
2) September Inspirational Card Challenge@ Scrapbook.com – Bonus category – Something old. Use something old from your stash that you have not used in a long time (you can’t remember the last time you used it). Well the metal charms I have had forever and I don’t use them very often.
SUPPLIES:
Cardstock: Bazzill (Beeswax, Pinecone, Rain Forest)
Sunflower Sticker: The Paper Studio La Petites (sunflowers)
Accents/Tools: burlap string, Studio G metal charms, Sizzix Love Set embossing folder, Marvy Uchida circle punch, Fiskars corner rounder, 1/8 scor-tape
So I made the wedding card and decided it would work for birthday to so I made a birthday one! One of the guys I work with his girlfriend loves sunflowers and her birthday is in October so I decided this design could also be for birthday! I didn’t have any birthday charms so I just left that element off.

I bought a package of chalkboard tags last year and never got around to using them. So this year I saw Kathy101 post a sketch using a tag and thought they would be perfect. Well after several attempts I couldn’t get that sketch to work so I moved onto another sketch, Tuesday Morning Sketches #336, and love the outcome. I also went with these Chalkboard tags because the product category at the Inspirational Card Challenge is Chalkboard product. I paired it with a sunflower since one of the guys at work that placed an order his girlfriend’s favorite flower is the sunflower. And every girl should get their favorite flower on Valentine’s Day!I also have a goal to use up my non dwindling supplies so the background heart paper were scraps I had.
I had two tags that would work for this design so made two cards!
SUPPLIES:
Image: sunflower is paper pieced from Whimsy and Stars (Sunflower Bird Digital Stamp)
Cardstock: Bazzill (Glow, Raven)
Patterned Paper: The Paper Studio (B&W doodle hearts)
Accents/Tools: ribbon, heart brad, pop dots, xyron X sticker maker
You ever have those cards or challenges you are determined to do but man do they make you work for it!! Well that is what happened when I decided to make the 2 sketches offered at Feeling Sketchy for their Month Long National Scrapbook Day Challenge. I knew these sketches would get me out of my comfort zone and I wanted a little challenge!! Be careful what you ask for!! I thought I would have a hard time with the circles but that one came together in no time. Now the other sketch gave me a run for my money!! After several tries I finally came up with something I liked!
If you are inspired by the sketches come play with me for a chance to win a #25.00 gift card to Deedee’s Digis.
