Valentine Vintage

*So I’m late posting this to the blog as I made it in Feb 2019.

I bought this paper at Hobby Lobby thinking it would be good for some customers. Well decided to make one for one of my bosses to give his wife. I have been making Valentine and Mother’s Day cards for her for the past 6 years (maybe longer). When she saw me she told me that she told her husband he was never allowed to buy a store bought card again for her!! I hope she likes this one….a little different than my normal style.

I used a sketch from last month’s January Card Sketch Challenge – Bonus sketch. Original sketch was Feeling Sketchy Challenge Blog #211.

SUPPLIES:
Cardstock: Bazzill (Ivy)
Patterned Paper: Vintage Valentine by The Paper Studio
Accents/Tools: pearls, cutter bee scissors, lace, 1/16 EK Success Pop dots

Hooked on You

So I saw a digital image of a two hooks made into a heart. So I thought I bet that would look cool to actually use real fishing hooks….and this is the outcome. I have a couple ladies that like fishing themed love cards so I sent the ideal to them and they said go for it! So hopefully they like the outcome.

Panda Love pink

So I almost forgot to check out the monthly image at Gerda Steiner Designs. I’m so glad I checked with a few days left because it was this adorable panda. So I pulled out some new Queen & Co paper I bought and asked my husband to color it up in photoshop to match. My printer prints darker and not always the color on the screen so the first print was more green (see 2nd version) then the color in the striped paper. So after several attempts we got the color to match the papers and that is this version! I used Atlantic Hearts Sketch #248 as my inspiration.

Kissy Fish

So I had been trying to think how to make the “baby and momma valentine card” into one that could be given to a husband from a wife only. So I came up with this Kissing Fish version! I used water color design paper from Michael’s to make the fish and the background. Love paper that lets me cheat cause I can’t make my own water color paper…doesn’t turn out as good! I used the same Tuesday Morning Sketch #388 as my inspiration.

So a coworker is pregnant with their first baby. She asked for a card to give to her husband for Valentine’s that would be from her and their baby boy on the way. So went looking for pregnant woman images and then looked for mommy and baby animal images. This is an image from Coloring Pages For Kids. It was perfect as he is a fishermen. My husband colored it in Photoshop and then I cut them out so I could position them how I needed them on the card. I used Tuesday Morning Sketches #388 for my inspiration.

Rawr Valentine

This is my husband’s Valentine card. I didn’t know what I wanted to make him so while I was creating cards today I was thinking about it. He just got me some items off my internet wish lists for my birthday so I thought it would be cool to use something he bought me. Well my husband is also good at pushing my creativity and helping me try new things. I have been wanting to do more misting to get better at it and figure it out. So he bought be some ink powder…which I didn’t know existed. So when I was looking through my scraps I saw paper with dinosaurs on it and remembered this saying. I thought it might match the orange powder he got me. So here is my attempt at spritzing. I put some in a bottle with water to make orange but it really didn’t turn out. So then I sprinkled the powder on the paper and spritzed water on it. The other way is to spritz water on paper and sprinkle powder in it. Depending on how much water mixed with the powder seem to decide what color came out…red, orange, yellow. I got the color palette from the dinosaur paper.

I used the sketch from Feb Inspirational Card Challenge – sketch category…finally got it pretty close to the original!
