Porch Swing

Porch Swing

I needed a birthday card for a lady that has a lake house and loves to be there. Also, needed a retirement card for a lady at the Retirement home who wanted to give it to the director who was retiring. So I decided this could fit both orders!
I made one a couple years ago that my husband made me because there were no digital stamps of a porch swing. But before Doodle Pantry retired she made this porch swing. So it was perfect to use in a pinch. The flowers were pink but I had my husband change them to purple to match the color challenge of the July Inspirational Card Challenge – purple & yellow! Simple card but it was perfect!

A Christmas Owl and Panda

Owl Christmas.JPG

So this was for one of the granddaughters of the lady at work. She requested an owl as that is what the granddaughter is into. I had been wanting to make a stair step card with these owls from Daydream Designs (no longer in business). I didn’t get the card done I wanted to make but I did use the owl! I saw MOJOMonday #477 sketch and thought it would work but was trying to figure out what to put in the corner. They are small but there are candy canes on the owls belly. So I went looking through my Cricut cartridges and found some that were perfect on the Christmas Cheer cartridge.

Dump Truck Birthday

DumpTruckBirthday.JPG

I had an order for a construction vehicle theme birthday card for her 3 year old grandson. She had sent me a sample of what she liked and this was my version. She liked it so that was good!

I used Toy Truck Ants digital image by Doodle Pantry. I modified it with the owners permission (make sure to always ask before modifying a digital stamp). I actually didn’t modify it my husband did once I told him what I wanted. I wanted the dump truck with dirt so he erased the ants from the dirt and added that dirt to the blank truck. Then he added a 3 to the dirt! Love his PS skills!!

2) Ants in my Pantry Digital Challenge #14 – Anything Goes theme but must use a digital image (from any company).

Doggone it, we dropped the ball!

So at the beginning of June I looked at my “dates to remember” and saw my step-mother-in-law’s birthday was that month. Well, it came and went before I remembered it. Since we are really late I wanted a card that was specifically for missing a birthday. So I went searching through my images and the internet for inspiration. In hashing out ideals with my husband we came up with two dogs and a ball with the sentiment “Doggone it, we dropped the ball”. So I went directly to my Doodle Pantry folder as I remember these cute dogs. My husband is a Photoshop guru so he put the dogs and ball together to make it look like us…he even added collars…adorable!!

Doggone it

Now I saw all the red, white and blue challenges out there but since it was passed I really didn’t think I would get to play in them. But with the ball being the primary color that is what I went with. Not sure while all my cards were CAS yesterday since that is not my “go to” styles. I used Freshly Made Sketches #191 as my inspiration.

CHALLENGES:

1) Less is More Challenge #231 – So onto our challenge and being the first week of the month it’s the return of the COLOUR challenge at Less is More and in honour of our friends across the pond, it could be none other than RED, WHITE & BLUE Please keep to these colours; any additional shades should be kept to neutral or metallics.

2) A Gem of a Challenge #148 – Red, White and Blue Color Challenge

3) Ants in my Pantry Digital Challenge #7 – Anything Goes (must have digital image)

Catching up with Doodle Pantry!

So I realized today as I was looking through my files that I’m way behind in posting as I haven’t posted the Valentine Cards made with Doodle Pantry images! So here is trying to catch up after the holidays…just in time for Mother’s Day card making frenzy to start!!

Valentine Monster Truck

One of my regular’s at work wanted Valentine cards for her 3 boys. This is what I made the 5 year old…..it was the perfect image for a 5 yoa boy in my opinion!! I used I {heart} sketches #37 as my inspiration.

She also needed 2 teacher cards. I only had one made so I made this one….which is similar to the other one I made a couple years ago. This card was inspired by Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 sketch #43.

Teacher for ewe

Another lady at work need a card with a walrus on it so this image, Critter Friends, at Doodle Pantry was perfect!! I used the Card Sketch #41 at Sketch n Scrap for my inspiration!

Walrus Valentine

And the last one I made for my husband! I never tell him enough how good looking he really is….so I thought this was a good way!

Stud Muffin

Thanks for stopping by and catching up with me!

I would like to play in Doodle Pantry’s Ants in my Pants Digital Challenge #3 if these count since I’m just now posting them. If not hopefully I will get to play next month.

Samples for Scrapbook.com challenges

So I’m hosting 2 card challenges at Scrapbook.com this month for Karen who is going on VACATION for the WHOLE month (sooo jealous!!). She is amazing and usually has all the challenges done and post them as samples. Well, I’m not that good so I will play along with everyone else this month. But here are 3 samples I did get done so far.

Daisy Happy Birthday

I originally planned on using this beautiful bouquet daisy digital stamp from Diane’s Daydream Designs for one of the May challenges but I just couldn’t get the card to work. So I saw this sketch and tried it which I’m so glad I did because I LOVE IT!!

CHALLENGES:

1) June Card Sketch Challenge @ Scrapbook.com – Sketch # 2 – Originally came from Scrappy Sketches #35-13

2) Seize the Birthday Challenge – Make a birthday card and use the topping if you want (optional) – Tags. I chose not to do the topping unless you count the “Happy Birthday” saying as a tag.

Inside:

Happy Birthday

to a lovely young woman;

full of grace, beauty,

spirit and fire.

I made this card for a guy at church who wanted it for his Granddaughter’s 17 or 18th birthday (He wasn’t sure but it was one of those). She likes horses so I thought Carousel Horse 1 from Doodle Pantry was perfect.

CHALLENGES:

1) June Card Sketches @ Scrapbook.com – Sketch #5 – Originally from Tuesday Morning Sketches #217

2) Seize the Birthday Challenge – Make a birthday card and use the topping if you want (optional) – Tags. I chose not to do the topping.

Panda with Balloons

When I saw May Digi of the Month, It’s Not a Tie,  at Deedee’s Digi I knew that I tie wouldn’t work for my father-in-law so I got to thinking! I kept seeing the Panda holding balloons so I wrote Deedee and asked permission to remove the tie from his hand. Deedee agreed that my wonderful husband could work his magic in Adobe and take the tie away. I still wasn’t sure what it was going to look like except I wanted balloons. Well, the inspiration photo this month for the June Card Challenge @ Scrapbook.com inspired this card. The photo is a little girl in a red polka dot dress holding a bouquet of red balloons. I embossed the red paper with dots to get the feel of the red polka dot dress. I dragged out an older sketch, The deconstructed Sketch #46, for this card.

CHALLENGES:

1) June Card Challenge @ Scrapbook.com – Photo Inspiration Category – use the photo as your inspiration

2) Deedee’s Digi of the Month Challenge – Use May’s Stamp of the Month and you will get June’s Digi of the Month FREE!

Deck the Halls

Just some cards

Here are a couple cards I got done this weekend.

Easter Blessings

This was another card offered at Card Class this weekend. When I saw this image, Christ is Risen, at Daydream Designs by Diane I “ohhh” out loud. It is beautiful drawn and colored that I just had to use it when several of the ladies asked for a religious Easter card. And the inside I combine two of the sentiments in the set:

Death could not CHAIN HIM

A tomb could not HOLD HIM

The enemy could not DEFEAT HIM

Christ is Risen!

CHALLENGES:

1) April Card Challenge @ Scrapbook.com – Sketch Category – Merry Monday Sketch #68 was our inspiration. It worked perfectly for this card!!

2) Sweet Stamps Blog Challenge #164 – Easter

His Name Is with cross

*The white background is NOT part of the card….just put it down to get a decent picture on a glass table.

I know you have seen 2 other cards with this image, His Name Is, but I can’t help it because friends keep requesting it! I made this one for a lady who saw the last two and wanted one with a cross instead of flowers. I had to make this card quickly and during Card Class so I’m surprised it came out so good! She said she liked the Spring version but without flowers so I tried to do that one and modify it. It wasn’t working for me and she didn’t seem thrilled either so back to the sketch folder. She liked the tilted look of first card I did in rainbow colors. So I found Mojo Monday sketch #340 and went to work.  I flipped the sketch on its side. Then for the ribbon on the right I used a piece of embossed paper and put it under the image instead of on top of it. Then where they had the banner/circles I put the cross there instead.  I used a wooden cross from Hobby Lobby and covered it with paper. It needed something more so I cut out the purple piece from the Christ is Risen Digital Image at Diane’s Daydream Designs and added it to this cross.

CHALLENGES:

1) Mojo Monday Sketch #340 (MOJO340) – Use the sketch provided as inspiration.

Lighthouse Birthday

Let me tell you how blown away I was on the coloring of this image!! This set use to be a Clearly Digi Stamp (went out of business) and so I had it. But when I saw how beautifully Laurie re-did the coloring for Doodle Pantry I had to buy this set! I cut out the blue sky area that was behind the light house because it didn’t fit right in the oval. I used an older sketch, #249,  from Unscripted Sketches….I just flipped it on its side. I roughed up the edges of the card with a distresser.

CHALLENGES:

1) Doodle Pantry Digital Challenge #45 – Anything Goes….BUT if you use a DOODLE PANTRY image you will get the featured digital image FREE! I used Sheltering Lights Digital Image for a masculine birthday card that a friend needed for her brother-in-law’s birthday.

2) April Card Challenge @ Scrapbook.com – Technique Category – paper piercing. I pierced around the frame.

His Name Is

Inside: He is Risen! Happy Easter!

Last month the technique challenge over at the Feb Card Challenge @ Scrapbook.com was to create your own background with stamps. Well I don’t own a lot of “real” stamps because I’m not good with them and they scare me! So I asked if it could be done digitally and she said yes. I DID NOT create this image (His Name is) as Laurie at Doodle Pantry did so all I had to do was print it out. So I kind of cheated!! I didn’t get it done last month but was inspired to make this card with that challenge in mind.

I was thinking about making this an Easter card by putting “He has Risen! Happy Easter” inside. What do you think? I’m thinking the image could work for that but might have to make it brighter…the black might be to dark for Easter…what do you think?

Alright 4 flowers down….1,000 more to go before I make a dent in the flower collection! All scraps used! Oh I have lots of stuff I need to use. I need to retire so I have time to use it all!! Sounds good to me….to bad life gets in the way!

CHALLENGES:

1) Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 Challenge #8 – Use the sketch provided as inspiration. The original sketch had the image and piece behind it as a square. I did mine as a rectangle so it looks a little different but you should still see the sketch.
