Vintage Valentine

Valentine Vintage

*So I’m late posting this to the blog as I made it in Feb 2019.

I bought this paper at Hobby Lobby thinking it would be good for some customers. Well decided to make one for one of my bosses to give his wife. I have been making Valentine and Mother’s Day cards for her for the past 6 years (maybe longer). When she saw me she told me that she told her husband he was never allowed to buy a store bought card again for her!! I hope she likes this one….a little different than my normal style.

I used a sketch from last month’s January Card Sketch Challenge – Bonus sketch. Original sketch was Feeling Sketchy Challenge Blog #211.

SUPPLIES:
Cardstock: Bazzill (Ivy)
Patterned Paper: Vintage Valentine by The Paper Studio
Accents/Tools: pearls, cutter bee scissors, lace, 1/16 EK Success Pop dots

I made this card as a sample for one of the guys at work. He has a standing order for a Valentine and Mother’s Day card. He liked it but wanted it done in red, black and white. So another guy bought this one! I lifted a card from Mary Fish at Stampin’ Pretty….love her cards.

Panda Love pink

So I almost forgot to check out the monthly image at Gerda Steiner Designs. I’m so glad I checked with a few days left because it was this adorable panda. So I pulled out some new Queen & Co paper I bought and asked my husband to color it up in photoshop to match. My printer prints darker and not always the color on the screen so the first print was more green (see 2nd version) then the color in the striped paper. So after several attempts we got the color to match the papers and that is this version! I used Atlantic Hearts Sketch #248 as my inspiration.

Llama Love

As soon as I saw this image in Dec at Imagine That Digi Stamps I had to have it. In 2002 my husband and I went to Exotic Animal Paradise in our jeep without the doors and top on. We had a blast…so did the animals! A Llama came up to my husbands side and started rubbing his head on my husband’s chest and trying to snuggle up to my husband. It was sooo cute! So I called it Llama Love! So I thought this image would make a perfect Valentine’s card for my hubby! I used this weeks MOJO Monday #484 sketch as my inspiration. I realize now I left off the horizontal strip but I think you can still tell it was inspired by the sketch.

Love you just like a little PIG!!

xoxo-piggy-valentine

This is another card the lady at work wanted. This one is for her granddaughter (almost 1) to give to her mom (the ladies daughter). She wanted a pig with this saying:
Love you little!
Love you BIG!
Love you just like a little PIG!!
Happy Valentine’s Day
(the ladies MIL use to say this to her daughter…so a family saying)

I put the saying inside the card and used this cute pig from Imagine That! Digi Stamp on the front. All the paper came from my scrap drawers! Yep, I have way to many scraps!!!I used Atlantic Hearts Sketch #198 for my inspiration.

Favorite Fish in the Sea

One of the ladies at work wanted a card for her almost 1 yoa granddaughter to give her 16 yoa uncle (ladies son) for Valentine’s Day. She asked for that saying to be on the card. I decided to put it on the outside of the card and put Happy Valentine’s Day on the inside. I used the fish and rock scene from Diver Daniel Digital Stamp from Deedee’s Digis (no longer in business but she does have a blog she offers some of her images).

I was looking through my sketches trying to find something that would work with several fishes and one of them going the opposite direction. I decided to use Feeling Sketchy #162 as my inspiration. I flipped the elements so the cluster was on the right and the single fish was on the left. Instead of banners I used the rock image. I also flipped the elements upside down. She loved it when I gave it to her yesterday!

Dino Valentine Cards

dino-across-the-miles-valentines

My Godparents sent an email that their grandson’s teacher sent out. She asked for Valentine cards to be sent to the child at school so they could learn about different places in the world. So I asked what he likes being 6 yoa and in 1st grade and was told dinosaurs, Pokemon and Star Wars. Mary Ellen drew some cute dinosaurs at Free Dearie Dolls Digi Stamps so I used one of them. I decided for the squares to use small version of the states that the card was coming from (Missouri) and going to (California). I used MOJOMonday #482 sketch but instead of a circle inside I went with a jagged edge square.

See next post for card without maps.

Inside:
Hope your
Valentine’s Day
is Dino-mite!

Since the dino is so cute and funny I decided he needed to be sent to my guy friend, Dale. I try to send Dale a card for each of the holidays…who doesn’t need happy mail?!!

So I apparently put my paper in wrong in the embossing folder because the textured side go the indent embossing (not sure what that is called) so I decided to use it! I thought it worked great with getting the love/valentine theme across without being a lovey dovey card! I hope the dino makes him smile like it makes me!

Kissy Fish

So I had been trying to think how to make the “baby and momma valentine card” into one that could be given to a husband from a wife only. So I came up with this Kissing Fish version! I used water color design paper from Michael’s to make the fish and the background. Love paper that lets me cheat cause I can’t make my own water color paper…doesn’t turn out as good! I used the same Tuesday Morning Sketch #388 as my inspiration.

So a coworker is pregnant with their first baby. She asked for a card to give to her husband for Valentine’s that would be from her and their baby boy on the way. My husband colored it in Photoshop and then I cut them out so I could position them how I needed them on the card. I used Tuesday Morning Sketches #388 for my inspiration.
